NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Beneath Yale's ivory tower there's a crime going on so dirty that soap can't even clean it up.
"Apparently, somebody has been pooping in the laundry in a couple of the colleges," said Yale junior Staci Cummins.
Right in the dryer, according to the student newspaper. The Master of Saybrook College sent out an email informing students he was getting Yale Security and Police involved in trying to flush out the perpetrator, who's now being called the 'poopetrator.'
"Well supposedly at one point they caught him and two weeks later he came back again," said Yale sophomore Attila Yaman.
"I guess nobody knows who. They're trying to figure it out," said Cummins. "Why, no one can answer that. How? That's what I want to know is how they're doing it and how nobody's caught them."
The Yale Daily News reports this happened to at least three students and one woman says her clothes were ruined beyond repair.
And now to keep laundry day from being such a crap-shoot, students say some of them are taking turns staying up all night keeping an eye on the laundry room.
"Now people are standing watch in the laundry room, so it's been kind of a campus wide phenomenon at this point," said Yaman. "But hopefully one day they catch the person"
News 8 been emailing with one of the victims who says that in order to make sure something got done she literally picked up the excrement from the dryer in a paper towel and took it to the College Master's office. The University has not returned our calls for a comment.
