Skiing is a sport for the rich plain and simple. Sure there are a few people we all see living out of the back of vans or couch surfing for the season to ski, but these people often work at the resort in one form or another whether it's being an instructor, waiting tables at night, or working the shop a couple days a week they bust their ass to get their turns in because it's what they love doing and you will never hear them complain about it.
That being said, look around. Think about how much all the shit you're wearing when you go skiing costs the next time your parents pay for it. Not to mention how much the pass costs, getting to the mountain, and those of us who are fortunate enough to have a second house in the mountains. Our sport has become one of the most elite activities you can do.
And that's all just to go skiing in general. If you're going to windell's or COC every summer that's a shit ton of money there. Then beyond that going to a ski academy is just as expensive as college in most cases if not more expensive. Then formal coaching and traveling to compete if you're good enough to get that far.
Don't hate on Margetts because he asked for money to accomplish his dream that he's already sunk all his money and basically his whole life into. The guy is a sick skier and honestly should be at the olympics and it's a shame his sponsors aren't supporting him enough to go. If you want to help him out then help him out, if not shut the fuck up.
I'm not saying there aren't people who work hard to ski on NS, but a solid 85% is definitely skiing on their parents dime. Next time you go skiing remember how you got there and how lucky you are to be there.
Lastly, remember that skiing isn't hood shit. It's a sport for rich people with nice cars and nice houses pull your damn pants up and you don't need a XXXXL tall tee everyone knows you're a rich fuck and the farthest thing from hood you can get.
End rant.
