Since 1976 there have been 17 government shut downs, its really nothing to freak out about. As for Obamacare, I do not agree with it at all, but i do believe that both sides are to blame for this whole mess. Not a single side and definitely not the tea party considering how small they really are

Fucking government is falling apart because two groups of people think its more important to argue and get their way than to help this country.

We should stop passing these bull shit spending things and make a fucking budget already. Fucking congressmen acting like preschoolers not wanting to share a toy on the playground.

This country's government isn't going to last for very much longer if things keep up the way that they do.

People from other parts of the country laugh when I tell them to take a sweatshirt to SF or the coast... thinking "oh, it's California, it's always sunny, warm, and people are like 'yeah dude!' and running around with no shirts and stuff holding surfboards and skateboards and everyone knows a celebrity or 4!"

That wont happen, because we have to pass a budget, and if you thought passing a temporary spending bill would be difficult without handshakes across the aisle, oh man...

As for the healthcare thing, my friend from Australia told me about one of the differences between here and there. Because there's universal healthcare in Australia, there is greater taxation across the board--there is also a higher tax rating on the higher percentiles of personal incomes. But also because there's universal healthcare, and this is purely anecdotal but that's ok, he says that there is far less prevalence of homeless crackheads sitting on the streets begging and all around making people uncomfortable (comparing San Fran with Brisbane, a city of 2mil). Of course there are homeless people everywhere, but when it's less noticeable, one would infer that that means there is a lesser occurrence. (A quick google research found that Australia has ~.5% of its population being homeless, with the US being ~1%. Note that the US is ~13x the population size.)

The US is all about personal liberty 'n stuff, but how are there personal liberties when the system that is in place doesn't allow for the healthy fulfillment of all of its constituents? With a healthier populace comes a healthier country, and we are easily one of the most unhealthy countries in the world.

But really the saddest part about the government shutdown is that Yosemite had to close on its birthday--they even got a google cartoon!!

Technically, Yosemite's birthday is June 30th, because it was a State park for some 20-30 years prior to it's National Park designation... and was treated like a national park during said time (if not better, since it was under it's National Park designation that it was ruined with the destruction of Hetch Hetchy)

As far as I am concerned the health care debate ended when Obama got reelected and the US supreme court ruled it was constitutional. I don't 100% agree with Obamacare but the right side needs to get over that it is going to happen.

One last comment on this healthcare thing.
