meh, insanely over gopros...


they fail to mention the thousands of dollars it takes to get some of the shots they got.

Realistically, its cool for POV shots but if you're gonna rig up a 20k remote heli why not at least put a dslr on it? Same with shooting from a real heli, 100k rig with a gopro on it..

Sorry gopro promo vids piss me off.

That being said, i wanna wrestle with those lions, that looked awesome.

Working for a professional Aerial Media company, I have found that the technology to lift a full size dslr is inadequate compared to lifting say a Nex5, due to direct dive brushless gimbal technology. So from a personal standpoint, I can put a gopro on my 1k heli and get similar shots to my bosses 20k heli without risking the bisquit. But I agree, for full productions like this video, GoPro's are only cool for POV shots.

How will this be for filming edits? I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing for a rig for the winter and this seems to be a cheaper option than a T2i w/lens or similar

Glad to see they haven't ignored the glass. Not that I expect them to, but over every model it's been getting better and better, and I think the 3+ will finally be able to compete with camcorders a little bit to an extent. Obviously two different markets but Gopros used to be so unusable compared to now. Even though they shot 1080p on the first hero it was so god damn soft

i still have two of the first heros. i kinda want one of these. i could see myself using these a lot more. especially with the protune mode or whatever with a bit less compressed codec. thats pretty cool. and usable resolutions, like the 2.whatever k. could throw that in with some black magic footage.

All of the shots in the video except for the opening scene was shot on a DJI heli - a $500 dollar heli. Opening scene was a heli to take us out to the mountains and we mount up anything and everything. It's much different than a full production, and more fun!

Well, its a 500 dollar multi, with a 500 dollar H3-2D brushless gimbal and most likely 400 dollars worth of FPV gear to get a video downlink. So I'm thinking more of a 1500 ish heli? Which if your looking for a pilot to fly a setup like this, count me in!

as someone who works in camera sales, I cant believe this hasn't been mentioned much anywhere. Gopro has the absolute worst quality control I have ever seen in any camera brand. Fingerprints on the lenses, dust between glass elements, notches on the plastic...Not to mention the rushed release of the black edition which had more bugs than an ant farm. When you buy a gopro make sure to inspect it thoroughly.

I got to test it out at the kickoff party for the product. GoPro had an entire roller coaster park down near San Jose for a private event all day. So got to go on crazy roller coasters and use it. Stupid fun!


Also, the quality is fine. Not terribly better than the predecessor. 2.7k30? pretty fun to play around with. I'll be having fun with mine, learning the high resolution workflow with it...

I've ony had one GoPro, but mine did indeed never work right from the get go (Hero 2). The buttons would never really work. I send it in and got a replacement that works perfectly though.
