Ski in ski out property

What is the least expensive ski in ski out property that you know of? Is it hard to live in year round? I need your ideas NS. Also if you have lived in ski in ski out property before can you tell me what I could expect for about $250,000

250k won't get you much at a nice resort, especially if the property is ski in ski out

The one bed room condos I have lived in that were walking distance to lifts were worth above $200,000. So $250,000 will probably not get you anything too special.

On mtn homes are well into the millions..though walking distance becomes much cheaper. But it also depends on the resort

you can get cheap ski in ski out lots at castle mountain in southern alberta. and the mountain is such a hidden gem. such a sick resort.

If your budget is $250k, look into a share of a multiple family home.  Obviously real estate varies on where you're looking, but for most "desirable" ski in/out homes or condos you'll be spending much more than that.

If you have any extra loot you can do what I did, buy a two family home and rent out one side.  My renters pay my mortgage at this point.  When I was only living there in the winter months I rented out both sides and made a little extra money that way.  Owning property is kind, especially in a ski town, just make sure you're actually ready to spend that kind of loot.  There's a lot more to ownership that just writing a check.  You need to consider insurance, taxes, cost of living, etc.

HOA alone is going to be like ~$450/mo minimum for any ski in ski out condo.

If not more.  Before I bought my house I looked at Condo's in Breck and the HOA fees for a few were in the $600-700 range.  They were ON the mountain which can explain the additional cost but that's an extra $7k most people don't consider.

$250k is nothing for a ski in out. I mean 250k is barely anything for a decent house today.

I ski at stratton ski in/out going to cost you atleast ~$1 mill +. There are some units I have been in that are walking distance which go for ~$1.75m+.

Then again if you buy at a much smaller and less known resort could save you a lot and you could find smethign that could appreciate a lot in the coming years

Well depending on where you're living, I guarantee you can find a "ski in and out" place for 250k. But it's going to be a shithole and it's probably not going to be a ski-up (literally ski to your front steps. You're going to have to walk a bit.

But as people before mentioned, HOA is going to ass-rape you, and maintenance on a 250k home with prime location is going to be absolutely ridiculous since it will be a mess.

Also, a 250k price tag doesn't imply 250k and you're done. There are a ton of factors to how much the house is actually going to cost. Going to a mortgage calculator on google and putting in 250,000 + applicable down payment will only give you mortgage. That won't give you closing costs (very pricey for what you're looking at), earnest money, and all the accoutrements that come with buying a home.

If 250k is the top of your budget, then don't spend over 175k. In the end, you'll pay close to the top of your budget.

depends on what you are getting, here on the east coast a lot of places have apartment style condos from the mid 80's which are generally cheaper.

my parents bought a place at Sunday River thats ski in/out for basically the equivalent of whats today $30,000 before ski in and ski out places really exploded. It's essentially two rooms vertically stacked with a bathroom, but its fucking awesome, and we can usually make a profit renting it out on vacation weeks when its too crowded to go anyways.

as dope as snoq is 260k to ski snoq is not worth it. Id imagine u cud get a spot for that much at crystal which is much much better for all mtn.

True, and you can definitely get a cheaper place than this at Snoqualmie, I just grabbed it as an example because its close to the lift.
