Freeskiing high school teams

I was talking to my friend at school about if freeskiing or snowboarding would ever get big enough to be a high school spot. I think some schools in California have skatboarding teams so why not have slopestyle events between schools?

I would be so mad if the schools got involved in freeskiing, but i also dont think they would. it would be too expensive, so everyone would have to pay for it still, it would really just be a club team wuth CHASSA regulations.

i kinda tried to start one last year, we had a teacher who shreds to "coach" and a bunch of kids who were down, skiers and snowboarders, but there were so many rules we decided not to do it

college freestyle ski teams for the win. But really though, in highschool a team would probably just kind of be too big of a hassle for too little of payoff

My high school talked about adding a Freestyle component to the race team for a few years, but its just too expensive all around.
The insurance is more, renting a terrain park and crew would be crazy, transportation to venues that are farther away

The college I go to, Michigan State, has a club freestyle ski team, and they compete against Ohio State, and other Big 10 schools

started a freeride team at my highschool when i was 15 in '05. mad support from family, friends, the school and our local mountain made it happen. pm me for more info if you're actually serious about trying to get something started.

A few schools around me have freeski teams, they compete in all of the USASA events at Mt. hood with other schools in the area (and anyone who signs up). I suppose its a good way for kids to post contest results and get recognized, but you have to pay for a yearly competition license or something + the $25 to enter each time. I'd rather just go boost some shifties.
