What do you guys recommend for ski boots?

i'm in an olllllldddddd old pair of langes and need to upgrade. do mostly park and all mountain skiing. no real pow here in ottawa, canada. give me some ideas!

I recommend a trip to one of your local shops with a competent boot fitter.

Unless you care more about your on-mountain appearance then go with Full Tilts, obviously.

What ever fits your feet... But if you fit them... I love the Head Raptor Overkill.
The spine tech buckles work really well. and has vibram sole. (again only if it fits your foot. but its perfect for me)

20 thousand posts on NS, and you ask the same dumb fucking question about boots? The recommendation is and alway will be: Go see a bootfitter. Get what fits your foot.

Well we can narrow it down a little bit Do you say you have narrow, medium, or wide feet? Are you looking for a more supportive boot, or a softer flexier boot? What kind of skis do you ride?

Honestly I know your trying to help but so few people have any sort of idea what shape there feet are it's really hard to give any advice. People may think they have a wide foot but then in relation to length it may be fairly narrow. Very few people can put there foot into a neutral postion without knowing how to do it so that changes the width an instep height too.

Best bet for something like this is go have your feet assessed OP and see what shapes the boot fitter recommends. Make sure to get custom footbeds they are a must for ski boots. If you have any questions about things to ask the fitter or what to expect let me know.

Simple, Full Tilt.

They add so much comfort to skiing. defiantly use Intuition liners if you were to buy full tilts, they work really good after being custom fit.

Go to a bootfitter, that's the only way you'll get an accurate answer. And get them heat moulded, it will help a lot. I'd suggest getting custom footbeds too. Don't go cheap on boots, having good boots is the most important thing you can do gear-related.

easy, children. i dont even know what brands exist anymore. i've had my boots for about 10 years. taking 5 seconds to throw some names out there of shit that seems to feel good based on experience would be wonderful.

but if that's too much to ask, kindly take the skis you begged your mommy to buy you and slice into your jugular

Why the fuck are you guys saying bootfitter? He asked for NAMES. I'm sure that he has enough knowledge to know to go to a bootfitter, but maybe he wants some names of boots you guys like.

Anyway, I have dropkicks. Yes I did get fitted. Yes half the skiing population has them. The drop kicks run pretty narrow and so are my feet. So they fit me well, but I had Nordica boots before them that were pretty nice, just outgrew them. Really though, all boots have a different fit even if they are the same brand, so just go and see what you like personally. People seem to love Dalbello, Nordica, and I guess Atomic has some new technology out this year, can't think of what they did at the moment. I love my Full Tilts and

yeah dalbello was a name that i've always heard but never tried. my langes are already but man are they stiff. fult tilt.. i might have to try just to see what all the hype is about. and maybe ill look into atomic.

thanks jd. that's all i really wanted. some ideas. some brands to look into, narrow down my search. i don't want to go out and be all "durrrrr im a noob i have no idea whats out there"

Out of curiosity, how are you "narrowing down your search" if you don't know what fits your feet? Is there a certain criteria you have for your new boots, or to eliminate others from contention?

And too late about not being a noob, it's pretty fucking obvious you are ignoring everyone's sound advice to go see a bootfitter. Keep an open mind, go to a competent bootfitter and try on as many boots as you can. If you can do this, you will find the best boot for you. Any "advice" you could gain from this thread will either be personal opinion/experience (which won't necessarily apply to you as we all have different feet), or information you could have found much more efficiently with a trip to google.

For whatever it's worth, I have been in Dalbello Krypton Pro's for the past 7 seasons or so and love the 3 piece boot design. I don't plan on changing, because they fit me.

I agree with you for the most part, but if you go to a competent fitter, he/she will most likely get you in a good fitting boot far before trying a whole bunch of stuff on.

Yes, I agree wholeheartedly, but to satisfy curiosity it's not out of line to ask to try on boots that may or may not fit you for research's sake. At least then you'd know right away if the stylish new Full Tilt boots the bootfitter didn't suggest for your feet fit or not...

not if his foot is to wide, its not like intuitions make it so anyone can wear them, fortunately i do fit ft's and the intuituon liner is so much better than my last pair of boots

Yes there are plenty of people who can't fit in a ft liner correctly. All that molding a liner will do it speed up the bedding in process. It won't make any foot magically fit in it. Shells can be worked on too but again not every foot fits every boot. That why manufactures having differnt shape boots to fit all the millions if differnt foot shapes. It's this reason that it is really inportant to go get fitted for the most suitable boot and not just but something because it's cool.
