This is such a ridiculous statement.
The Catholic Church now has nationwide programs designed to educate people about child sexual abuse.
My kids are in their 2nd year in Catholic School. It is better than anything I could have imagined. In order to be able to volunteer to be a chaperone for anything, you have to go through safe child environment training, and you have to submit to a background check. My kids couldn't compete in team sports until my wife and I completed something called PLAC which basically attempts to educate you to not be a "Little League Parent". In our local public school, kids got bullied mercilessly. The principal and teachers did nothing about it. At the Catholic School we attend now, bullying is dealt with harshly. An 8th grader had to sit detention in the preschool room all day on field day, because he flipped off a seventh grader. In public school, that same kid would have just been sent home at the end of the day with a post it note, which he would just toss, because there was no requirement that the parents sign it or verify that they even saw it.
There are sick people everywhere and some of them have ended up as Catholic Priests. It pisses me off that some in the church looked the other way for years, but I know that isn't the case anymore. Not saying that there aren't any pedophiles in the Catholic Church anymore, but it is definitely harder for them to hide. The church itself is increasing the awareness.
Our Priest is awesome. Our school is awesome. We are required to do hours of community service every year. My kids make sandwiches and bag lunches for the homeless. We didn't make the move from public school to Catholic School because we were interested in a Catholic education. We did it because our neighborhood school failed us and our options were limited, but it turned out to be the move we ever made.

o then that makes it ok that the Catholic church tried to cover it up first. Just out of curiosity have you ever been to a private non religious school?
