Trying to plan a trip this winter to shred some tubular Japanese pow. Has anyone done it before? If so, where did you go, where did you stay, how much did it cost you (airfare excluded).
I use the JMA forecast and also snow-forecast.com On the JMA site, the radar image for precipitation is useful as you can see exactly where it's snowing. http://www.jma.go.jp/en/radnowc/ Chose South West Hokkaido from the drop down 'Area' menu.
On snow-forecast the wind strength and direction is handy and quite accurate. The snow quantity you can usually multiply by 4 or 5 as it really seems to under estimate.
Just wondering if anyone had some recent info (i.e that went last winter).
Wondering if anyone had something to recommend? Or places to avoid?
I was wondering if it is relatively easy to get around without a car to some other mountains?
I am thinking of doing 2 weeks around sapporo. I am not sure which town would be the best combo of cheap accomodation with easy access to mountains (by cheap bus maybe?).
Going with a few friends so maybe hiring a car would be the best idea.
Either way if anyone has cheap accomodation at a decent location that they can recommend that'd be just great.
