Simple question.... who is the raddest ski shop near you and what makes them so rad?

Planting soles is not something that I done much these day especially with the newer form of footbeds. I have worked in shops which we have been able to plane soles and we maybe do about 1 in 400 boots. Most of the time I find when people think they need the boot planing its more a case tht te footbed is not getting the foot back into a neutral postion. This can be because the footbed being use is not suitable for the task it the fitter is not capable of stabilising the foot fully. If you are one of the few people who truly needs the boot chanting because of a curved tib and fib then you can usually get there using abs shims in the boot. This is a much better metho then grinding soles. If you grind the sole and you crack a shell and need a warranty you need the grinding doing gain and a shop won't do it for free. If you have a good footbed an abs shim then if you have a shell issue you can just move your current setup into any shell and have it work perfectly.

So to answer your question te we can plane your soles but it not a great way to fit boots. There are better more modern techniques for getting to the same final outcome for less money and less hassle.

I have had a few different footbeds, from a bunch of different fitters, and none made the difference to my skiing that the bootsole planing did. Maybe the shims would have worked just as well, who knows.

I'm trying to make these shells last another season, do you sell liners separately from boots? Would love to get a new Atomic race liner if you had them,

You won't be able to get a liner from a brand like atomic or salomon. You can get liners from brands like sidas who offer standard foam liners and foam injection. Also intuition are available in either wrap or standard form. If you want come into the shop and I can look at your current set up and see what I can do for you.

Not to contradict you bro, But it is possible to order salomon Liners aslong as they have the same model this year. I only know this cause we ordered 2 pairs of liners over last season.  Unless it's changed for this year?

You may be able to do it as a warranty but they do not sell them directly. If your in a shop you may be able to order some up if you need to but it's not like a customer could order a liner from salomon to replace there old ones.

You can if you really need to but the brands don't won't you doing it regularly. If they did they would advertise the liners in the catalogue. Don't get into the habit if doing it. So yes if a customer really needs one you may be able to get one but customers should not expect to be able to buy any liner they want.

Albany New York- High adventure is friendly but small

Burlington- Skiershop is bomb. I got a sick deal on Il Moros and they mounted my skis for free, even though I got the skis and bindings elsewhere. Not many shops in my experience have done that

Skirack has been pretty meh. They treat you like a gaper from the minute you walk in the door. The only perk is theyre speedy with service

SPORTS CREEL. Super chill viebs and dope twin end skis and stuff. Also they sponsor some gnarly local's and are much more down with freeskiing than the other Spokane area shops.

Never been in either, but my dad knows the owner somehow and hooked it up with a cheap pair of lizzies like 3 years ago. Al sounds legit.

Yeah I'll add another vote for Fresh. Freshtival is great obviously but I also appreciate that the employees aren't pushy (they mostly leave me alone, which is really what I want unless I'm looking at boots) and don't talk down to me the way they do at many shops or instantly push me into the women's ski section.
The other shop I've liked here is Ski Cellar. It's larger than Fresh so has a bigger selection and I have had better luck with finding cheap stuff on sale.

Why not? Seems fairly reasonable to me, my shell is still ok, my my liner is packed and torn up, why would Atomic not want me to get a new liner?

Because they would need to produce a load of extra liners to keep as stock. Think about it from a manufacturers stand point. They want to sell new boots not just liners. You my think that is harsh but it's business and they are trying to make money. But there are after market liners available so you can always replace the liner with one of those. Or spend about an extra £100 and get a whole new shell and liner rather then just a liner.

I havent got a fav shop in Whistler and am always looking for buying stuff online rather than anything in the village....

Comor mount skis well for a 6 pack ... thats nice, & thats where i'de mount but skis/bindings are too expensive.

TMC to me, have no idea what there talking about, with ski advice i've found, but stock alot of things I like in there (for too much money, unless on sale).

Surefoot are angry about people that arent in there to spend ALOT on boots for the eliminated work policy. don't really want to fit you if your young or looking for cheaper than RRP boots. I guess thats not a bad thing... Boots shoud be the thing you want to spend money on.

I find if you know what you want ... Its hard to buy it in Whistler basically. Order it off D-structure or something for alot cheaper...

What i've found. maybe not others opinions.

The best one near me is right outside mt backdoor.  It's the best because it's my own and I am the boos of myself!

Also I think that ON3P should give Sports Page some skis to sell. There was a thread that Rowen made about getting their skis out to shops I think but I never saw anything about them ever doing anything about it. It would probably make me want their skis more because I wouldn't have to pay for mounting and I'd probably get a package deal.

I have 3 about 10 minutes away from my house. McU Sports is rad because they hook me up with discounts on boots and such. Greenwoods Ski Haus is your typical ski shop, only modernized with freeride/freestyle gear (They are the only shop that deals armada skis/outerwear/gear). They are rad because they have a super good vibe to them, and they have all the ski movies like the day after the premiere. Eco Lounge Freeride is a shop dedicated to freestyle skiing, selling anything from saga outerwear and on3p filthy riches to backcountry gear and touring bindings/skins/etc. They are rad because I am very good friends with the owner and he helps send me to competitions and hooks me up with cheap deals.

I found a shop by me a little south of denver called Eskimo ski and board and the guys there are all super chill. I've had some bad experiences with colorado ski and golf so I looked around for more shops and found this one. The guys all know their stuff and they genuinely care about the customer, not just getting the sale.

ken jones in manch NH is wicked legit. way closer to maine than any VT store. a few of the guys in there used to rip park or still do. i mean i even work there. we care a lot about the customers and the only reason i got my job was cuz i was a custy and a regular one at that and i became friends with the guys and skied with them and now i work ski swaps with them.

sweet shop. if your in the area check it out. rigth across the street from the mall of NH

When I still lived in the Denver area before slopestyle was around, Eskimo was the place to go. They were nice enough to hold my mounted skis for a couple of months when I literally had no money haha. They definitely don't bullshit with you like ski and golf.

Manufacturers don't "Give" ski's to shops. Shops place orders.

Never met anyone who bases their ski decisions on what they can get free mounts on.

Berg's in Eugene is my favorite shop in Oregon. This fall my wife was shopping for skis and Svein Berg was really helpful. He was able to beat the prices we saw online and he really knows a ton. Berg's has free quick waxes for anyone even if you've never bought anything there. They made some free adjustments to my wife's boots for free and gave her a heel wedge. I hear this is common at Bergs. Bergs has been handed down through the family and the staff have literally grown up at the place. Even if you don't live in Oregon I recommend e-mailing Berg's if you ever have a gear question.
