Obamacare is going to happen and it's going to be a good thing. If you don't think so for the country as a whole, regardless if you're ignorant or just a brain-less retard, you have to agree that it is good for action sports.

Obamacare is simply a cheap healthcare plan that will allow millions of uninsured to have coverage. How many kids do you know that are uninsured because their only passion in life is skiing and they're not living like 80% of this god-forsaken site- in gated communities.

The same goes for any action sport that is cheap to start but can potentially have injuries where you have to go to the hospital?

BMX, surfing, skateboarding, parkour, croquet, ect.

If not that then think of the ski bums. They're poor because all they want to do is ski but if they fall in some gnarly moguls, they're bankrupt more than they already are. They may not ski for a little while since they have to relocate to another state.

To the Obamacare supporters:
1. I agree health/dental insurance is a necessity for everyone. 100%
2. I don't agree with my money going towards Americans who feel they are entitled yet refuse to work. The same people who have food stamps/EBT cards (which tend to get abused on cigarettes & beer), free/section 8 (aka discounted) rent, free cell phones, etc.. A large percentage of these people do not work because they are falsely disabled, on unemployment for the full length just because they can or just to fucking lazy to support themselves and their families (*disclaimer* I realize there are legitimate cases but there are far more people who manipulate the system). Socialism can kiss my ass.
3. You really have no idea what type of impact this makes on small businesses, the backbone of America. As an employee of a small business (-200 employees) I know that our healthcare costs have only continued to sky rocket the past 5 years. This is not something we want or can sustain forever yet we continue to provide healthcare to all of our full time employees & their families. When I hear employees complain about the fact that our personal (along with the company) healthcare costs have increased every year I don't know what to tell them. I know that I can tell them my company ate the costs for 4/13 - 4/14. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't appreciate that. I know what it used to be per person/family, I know what it is per person/family now & I'm scared to see what next April brings.
4. This is forcing large businesses that have been a huge part of the American economy for a long time (see UPS) to drop insurance for dependents. It is cheaper to pay the fine than provide the family healthcare plans. That's fucked. That means the people that actually pay taxes are paying for all the people who can't pay, the people who are too fucking lazy to work & the people stuck because they got dropped. Great fucking plan.

I don't have the answer to fix it, but this isn't it. Fortunately I was raised as a person with respect for myself and a hard worker. I can't say that it true for all of my family and friends. Obamacare is only going to make it worse unless you're like this guy:



P.S. I also don't approve of all of the benefits Senators, etc. are allowed.

When it comes to healthcare, it is between you and the doctor. As long as healthcare is still accessible to the people who always had it, I can't see a problem with introducing a crude version of socialized health care. Every bill needs to be streamlined through some degree of trial and error.

With a "dysfunctional" government (I don't know the exact extent of this because I don't follow american politics closely enough) it must be accepted that what is introduced may need more refining than if it came from a government working smoothly with the full support of the nation, but that ideal is an ideal. It is unrealistic for a nation to undergo major social structure/restructure without conflict and opposition. Admittedly, socialized healthcare that pleases an economically diverse nation is entirely idealistic as well, but it is a step forward.

Car insurance for many males in Canada approaches or surpasses $300 per month. Think about how often you'll use your car insurance compared to how often you'll see the hospital in a lifetime.

(I know that driving is essential to many, but it is food for thought)

How do you feel about your car or someone you knows having a car die as opposed to you dying or someone you know? Your car insurance is high because you suck at driving (statistically)

BTW my other responses were not towards Skiierman because he's just being himself trolling like an ass. My responses were towards the American's that probably barely work yet support this shit. You'll understand later in life when mommy & daddy aren't using their own money to pay your health insurance along with a bunch of lazy fucks

I hope you're trolling. The lower class citizens face many more challenges than just seeing a doctor. Allowing that doesn't lead to communism, it just means that as a state, you've decided everyone has the right to a doctor. People who are successful capitalists will continue making exponentially more than the people directly benefiting from social programs.

It works in a lot of other country's why not here. I fucking hate people bitching. "O you mean I have to help my 15+ employees who work full time. This is bull shit i'm losing money its a bad plan and will never work.

After the Obama administration revealed it would not enforce the employer mandate — a requirement that large companies provide their employees health insurance — until January 2015, the House quickly passed a measure that would not only codify that delay, but put off the individual mandate by one year as well.
The CBO found that just a one-year delay of the individual mandate would save $35 billion over ten years. But the basic cost structure of the Affordable Care Act would remain intact.

so bottom line, were going to have to wait and find out, but I think it's a step in the right direction.

I'm Canadian, I know just how much of my parents pay cheques go towards taxes, but I also know how much I've benefitted from accessible social programs. I'm also paying top dollar for chemical engineering tuition and have worked full time for the summers and part time when I can for the last half decade.

Statistically young males are reckless and have high insurance because of that, but the purpose of that stat was to point out things we pay an equal amount for but statistically use very little.

Many people, especially in the industrialized world, will develop conditions like cancer, and other terminal illnesses. Despite not having that now, when you're old and have no steady income, and can't get better insurance at a realistic rate, you'll appreciate having paid off your healthcare while you could.

As for lazy fucks, come up north and check out a native reserve. I have my own issues with the canadian taxes. I just don't have an issue when it comes to paying for something that I know I, and most other people in my country, will use.

America is not a lot of other countries. The land of opportunity was built on people that desired to work. Now it is flooded with people that expect to receive without reciprocating.

We'll revisit this in a few years. I hope it works out for the best interests of both of us but I am pessimistic.

Well you can buy complete shit, for instance i was in a jug n loaf earlier today, and there was a Red Bull ad that said 2 for 5 and at the bottom it said EBT cards accepted... Now if you are struggling to eat there should be absolutely no reason you need to buy energy drinks that cost almost 3 bucks a pop. Just one example of abuse.

now i get 200$/ week taken out of my pay by taxes. so basicly i work one full day for nothing just so people can have obama care. not only that but i have to pay for my own health insurance and i dont qualify for obmam care so i pay like 100/ month for the lowest covarage health care.

i thought i broke my ankle so i tryed to go order x rays. they wouldent see me for 8 hours so i left, my coverage is a 1000$ deductable so i would be paying the 250 out of pocket for the xrays.

obama care is not helping me in any way. im a very sad boy. my buddy argued with me about this yesterday and he thinks its there to help people like me but unfortunatly i have a job that pays around 45k which isnt much but i still have to pay higher percent taxes.

why should i have to give up my hard earned work for slackers. this is the land of opertuinity some people just choose not to work hard so they shouldent get equal care as the peple who do choose too. unless they were born with a problem like loss of hearing and there should be a bucket of cash to help those people but it should be hard to qualify for that type of treatment.

This is the problem I have with most of this crap. Food stamps/EBT/welfare, all that shit is getting out of hand. I think it needs to be in place but it also needs to be watched.

I am happy to see some states require drug tests for welfare.. If most people need to be drug tested for a job it should be required for welfare also. I mean isn't the point of welfare to help people between jobs? So keeping them off drugs while on welfare will ensure they can get a job that requires drug test.

In 35 states welfare pays more than minimum wage... Really?? You're telling me I can make more money doing nothing and sitting at home rather than going to work at an entry level job? WTF. In some states, 13 I believe, welfare pays more that $15 an hour. Who the hell would want to get an actual job, be a productive member of society when you tell them they can make 40k/year. Top five welfare states D.C. ($50,820 per year and $24.43 an hour), Massachusetts ($50,540 and $24.30), Connecticut ($44,370 and $21.33), and New York ($43,700 and $21.01).

taxpayers are paying for those who are uninsured right now.

uninsured gets seriously hurt/sick
doesn't go to doctor for preventative care
finally goes to ER
hospital required to treat patients
gets massive bill
files bankruptcy
loses all possessions
taxpayers absolve debt

this is a lose/lose situation. taxpayers out massive cash, person is financially ruined (if not dead)

there is no dodging the bullet that is medical costs

if i understand your point about majority correctly, the AMERICAN government is not necessarily (or shouldnt be) there for the majority we dont have a majority rule, we arent meant to be a democracy. And I see no reason our government has given us to "trust them more"
its not the governments job to give us a high quality of life either, thats up to the individual. we arent Canada, or European countries. what made the U.S. special was that we were the the exception to these countries, and we no longer are. the IDEA of America is still the exception, but we've pretty much lost most of what makes us the exception.

Anyway, this is a tough ass subject. we do not have a great healthcare system right now, we need reform, but Obamacare is a step in the wrong direction. its hard to say if healthcare should be provided to everyone. its most definitely not a right. we have the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. the right to life doesnt mean that someone else has to provide you with health, feed you and clothe you, it means that you have the right to earn food, clothe yourself and thus provide yourself with health, and nobody can forcibly stop you from earning these things for yourself. to say that it is your right to someone elses labor and results of their hard work would be to take away their rights.

in the most basic sense, if you're an hour from death and a doctor has the means to save your life, he shouldn't have to, he shouldn't be forced to. but at the same time he should be able to help you if he chooses to.

regardless, we could have a cheaper, more effective healthcare system that provided healthcare to everyone, than the system we have now. but obamacare is not it.

I don't really have much to say but it makes me angry. Or like I was working with this carpenter tearing the inside of this house out and the neighbor comes over to tell us something about the house, then in about a five minute span manages to tell us how he fucking hates mexicans and that hes on unemployment just hangs out in his house/cabin thing all day and what a sweet deal it is.

I don't know something about it just makes me furious.

And also I eat super healthy, drink plenty of water and exercise (ski, climb, bike, hike) whenever I can to stay healthy, and I'm going to have to pay for the medications of the fat fuck that eats nothing but burgers and fries and plays WOW all day? Thats fucked. I can see it with lets say cancer or something because its more or less a roll of the dice, but having to pay for the diabetes supplies of the fat fuck thats slurping down a Big Gulp and counting that as his fluids for the day, to him I say go fuck yourself.

Because I took care of myself and would rather pay for a trip somewhere then to keep that dumb sweaty t-shirt, gas station sunglasses wearing fuck on his feet. When all he had to do was go move around a little each day, drink water rather than a 2-liter of "pop" and eat a salad for lunch every once in awhile.

what's funny is that people who are unhealthy actually cost less....because they get sick and die of something

it's healthy people who inconveniently keep on living/surviving, therefore having higher costs

either way we are paying a handsome price for the uninsured in this country with or without obamacare
