Knowing exactly what your stuff is worth

So I had an interesting idea that I think could be really useful. Websites that incorporate buying and selling forums (like this site) should have a feature where you can upload your photos of whatever you want to sell and the site can give you an accurate estimate of what your used stuff is actually worth based on the photos you upload.
For example, you could take some pretty clear photos of a jacket you have and upload them to that section of the site and it would show you exactly what it's worth and you can use that estimate to make your price.
Just thought it would be a cool idea for NS.

when I have something I want to sell I usually call in a buddy of mine who is an expert on whatever I'm trying to sell.

I don't see how this could work. Who would detirmine the value? How could you make comparisons in the market? And what uploading system would take small scuffs/signs of wear into consideration? I could see a system that shows you what the MSRP of the item was, but then you could just say to google it.

Yeah, this is confusing. Computers can't judge the value of an item for you. There would have to be a person looking at and evaluating the used items.
Your real golden idea? A site like eBay or Amazon that dabbles in every product imaginable, but their sole purpose is to appraise your used item for you based on the model and condition from photos you upload. They would certify your appraisal and when you go to sell it wherever you want to sell it you can include this "Product Appraisal" certification that can be universally accepted and understood.
Like the KBB of your random shit.

Its actually a good idea. But if people start lowballing, then the seller is the one who gets screwed over and can't prove otherwise. The appraisers could all throw low ball prices, then offer a little higher and end up getting good deals by false appraisal.

eBay does something like this where it gives you prices that similar items have sold for when you are listing it. The problem would be that sizes and colors cause so much change in price. Ex: for a saga anomie jacket, nobody wants a medium lunar eclipse, but a lot of people want, and will pay a lot for, a xl murda mystery

I don't see how this is that hard to understand.
Someone uploads a picture/info of something they want to potentially sell and then a bunch of members appraise it and try to estimate it's value.
It's actually not a bad idea for people who rarely sell/buy stuff and will have no idea what sort of price range a used pair X skis from 2008 with MRSP of 600 in good condition minus some topsheet scratches and a cracked edge are worth.
If you're not into the whole buying/selling thing you really have no idea where to start. a few numbers thrown out by known and trusted members would certainly be a great start.

I dunno. I took 'the site' to mean everything having to do with the site including members.
if that's what he meant though, OP is full retard.

I have an idea for a site where you upload a picture of OP and it tells you how many dicks he has sucked

Brilliant idea. Maybe, it'd be like a thread that you can put up listing your item for sale at a tentative higher price with an OBO at the end and see what you can get for it. Maybe make a section of the site and call it sell/trade?
You're on to something, OP. You really are.
