Remounting bindings

I'm thinking of getting a pair of 03-04 mad trix, but they come with some shit bindings that are mounted too far back. So I want to remount them with some Salomons i have (still shit but much better). Is it possible to mount the bindings on the mad trix now (Tyrolia SP 100s) on my last year ski if the binding on the last year ski were Salomon 509s? And if it is possible without drilling new holes, how do you do it?

i think you would have to fill the holes first because salomon and head use different width screws for the bindings.







I'll drive it untill the wheels fall off, then I'll buy new wheels!

Oh, yeah. Im not worried about the mad trix cuz im thinking ill get them redrilled closer to center anyway, Im just wondering if the Tyrolia SP 100s will fit in the same holes as the Salomon 509s. But yeah if it works both ways thatd be phat too.

Helllppp, even if you don't know if they fit, at least inform me how to take a ski binding off and put one back on without having a techy do it. I can figure out if they fit once i can get them off and back on.

Help is on the way. The answer is no. They wont fit and even if they did it is always a bad idea to mount a binding in existing holes.(screws will pop out) Always drill new ones. The ski is normally still strong enough for a second set of holes if repaired properly.
2nd. You dont just move the binding forward on a madtrix. The ski is made to be ridden one direction if binding is mounted to ski all mountain and the other if skiing park. Sort these things out and you're good to go.

Damnit, so its gonna end up costing like 70 or 80 dollars just to move my binding. Also, how do i tell which side is the all mtn way and which is the park way?

One last thing, why dont ski companies do what snowboarding does and make the holes for the bindings standard and predrilled so you can switch whenever you want to? This would be alot easier than all this money to have them moved.

I actually dont remember which way is which. Go to a store that sells madtrix and check for yourself. They have a sticker on that tells you when all new.
Why 70-80 $. a binding mount cant be more than 10-15$. If you did it yourself you would have to buy the glue and that would easily set you back 10.

you definatly need to drill new holes and use binding specific screws, i tried free mounting an old pair of skis and only had some of the screws so i though i'd just use big wood screws in their place and it was a recipe for disaster. i ended up ripping the whole heel piece off of one skis and almost wrecked realy bad because of it. drill new holes, use a jig, and mount them right

The only place I've checked near me (granted that its prolly the most expensive place) put a binding remount at $40 USD. Thats why i wanna know if its possible to do it another way

Trust me I won't try to remount them myself. But i said 70-80 because id have to remount both, if i remounted them both anyway. Im thinking of trying to sell the other ones to get money for the new ones. But that would also mean having shitty Tyrolia Sympro 100s bindings (an 'aggressive and high performance rental binding' on my mad trix.)

you must get them remounted with fresh holes. you will not be able to do this yourself cause you need a jig and some knowledge about the subject. my shop charges 30 for a remount or 25 if they have a season pass. if you were from minnesota, i'd tell you to just bring them in and id do it for a sixer. sorry. and as far as the park and freeride directions of the ski, find out the dimentions (measure them or see if they're printed on there) and the fatter end foreward is the freeride direction and if you put the skinny end foreward, it's the park direction. it actually doesnt really make much difference, but i'd recommend mounting them the freeride position, with the fatter end foreward no matter what. it will work out better

If I could find a place to do remounts for 30 and fill the previous holes, I'd do it in a heart beat.

just re-mount them it doesnt make a difference just fill the holes with epoxy and u'll be fine
