Does anyone here go to a religious school

I'm looking at Liberty University because of the SnoFlex. If I take many of my classes in the summer, fall, and spring I would be able to ski year round and for the winter move back to my home mountain. Has anyone had experiences at a religious university? Is it worth going to Liberty only for the snoflex? Tuition is about 21k per year. I looked at admissions and they would accept me if I applied. I am a very mild atheist but that changes a lot.

I say don't base the school off the snow flex. Keep in mind religious schools are really damn strict. If they have other interests and majors that you are interested and they are a good school then go for it if you think it will be a good fit for you.

There are many other schools you could go to that are close to mountains or are only an hours drive away.

i went to a private university and the whole religious aspect of things never came in to play at all. The only way it impacted me was that I had to take one theology course. Other than that, you'd never have known it was a religious school. There were still plenty of parties. The professors were NOT jesus freaks, etc. It was just like any other school.

I go to Gonzaga, a Jesuit university. You're required to take a few religion prereq's, but it ends up not being a big deal, a lot of them are fairly interesting (Like African Catholicism), and in my opinion help you have a better understanding of the world. I'm not religious in the slightest, some of my friends are, but it really doesn't matter.

That being said, some religious school make you go to church several times a week, I would be more hesitant to be at a school like that.

Liberty is a bit more than just a religious affiliated school, the founder, Jerry Falwell has had a bit of a controversial past. I haven't been there so I can't vouch for the legitimacy of the education, but knowing they teach creationism, and even knowing there is controversy around the quality of education is enough for me to be wary.

lol i may be wrong but I just read somewhere you need permission to stay off campus. why do you need to get permission to stay off campus? its not like the students are 12. And basically no opposite genders are aloud in your room period.

Its sounds like there won't be much drinking or partying if you are into that once and a while.

also make sure they have something you want to major in before you chose and look at other schools and compare them. I'm sure there are other schools out there that you would like.

Yeah don't go there. Liberty University is a cult. I work with a few people who go there, and they are avid creationists who are completely brainwashed. One of them brought a Liberty University biology textbook to work one day, and it was filled with ridiculous statements that "disprove" macroevolution. I'm not saying that's everyone who goes there, but I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of the people there are that crazy.
