My husband's birthday is coming up and I want to buy him new skis as a surprise. We live in Jackson, Wyoming and ski often. He's 6'3 and weighs 180, is pretty advanced, but wants a ski that is better for powder days. Any suggestions? Can anyone tell me anything about last years Volkl Gotama: http://www.cleansnipe.com/pf17/volkl-gotama-skis-mens-20112012/824373/? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
The Gotama is a pretty sick ski. I would only question this because you live in Jackson and get some deep snow. Sticking with the Volkl idea, I'd look at the Shiro, just one up from the Gotama in the Volkl range. Seriously this is what dreams are made of. 119mm underfoot, full rocker profile and full wood core. This thing will charge!
On3p billy/caylor/cease and desist depending on what his style of skiing is (jumping around in pow and riding switch/always going forward but making quick turns, going straight and fast). They all come in at least a 191 and are stiff enough to support him
I had go through the Shiro just one up from the Gotama within the Volkl range. Significantly this is exactly what goals are made from. 119 mm underfoot, full rocker profile and also full lumber primary. This matter may demand.
The k2 obSETHed is a great pow ski ! I have the 2012, last model year . It's plenty soft in the tips to be quick in the trees and playful all over, but can charge hard when driven by a strong skier . Totsl game changer .
