What Flash?

...possibly the least asked "what ____" question ever.

I've been using a Canon 430ex for a while now, but I've come across a deal for two 380ex's for 60$. Figure I could use them for off-camera flashes, or even a cheap, light, long-battery life substitute for my 430 when I'm going lighter.

Does anyone know anything about these/used them? I'm curious as to how they'd work with digital. I'd be using on a 1Ds and maybe a 20D every now and then when going lighter.

Well, judging by the google image I pulled up with one mounted on a early digital eos body, they will probably work fine. But don't expect them to put out that much light, just use them for slaves

They're decent. Use them as slaves and you shouldn't have to worry. Your price would be a steal.

Yeah, I intend to primarily use them as slaves and off-camera flashes. They have a GN of 100.. which isn't far off that of my 430ex... so really not all that bad from the looks of things. recharge is just as fast, and they have ETTL. Should be cool.

That's cheaper then the "Family Jewels Fuq 690' so yes, just buy it.

You can never have enough flashes.
