The only issue is that you are wrong.....
Snoqualmie pass and Brighton Resorts both have a park pass system. Both of these resorts are Boyne resorts.
A park pass program is a great way to educate guests, but in no way reduces the levels of liability the resort takes on by building terrain park features. Snoqualmie had a park pass program the year they where sued for 14.7 million dollars due to a inexperienced skier over shooting a jump resulting in a broken neck. ( The largest single action lawsuit in ski area history)
If anything these programs have created issues. It costs around $600 per week to have someone standing at the top of a park to check these passes. $600 x 5 medium/ large parks = $2975 per week.
Then you have the issue of people that don't want to spend the time taking the class so they sneak into parks... This creates the issue that they do not go past the terrain park liability signage at the top of the park, creating more issues with liability.
This also makes your numbers of guests in the parks go down. ( Witch yes that is great for us.... but terrible for the argument to management that terrain parks make money.)
Now onto jumps.... We build jumps to suit or customer base. Our parks consist of mainly beginner and intermediate skiers/ riders. So yes we need to focus more on small and medium jumps. In the last 3 days we have pushed multiple jumps over 40'. Last night we rebuilt the entire ambush jump line. ( adding landing/ jump size)
The Zero Gravity park is being rebuilt into a slope-style course that will be held March 8th. There currently is a 20' and 25' jump at the top of the park (medium). The lower section of the park starts off with a 40' jump then a deck with double take offs. One being 45' and the other being 55' to knuckle.(Give or take do to changing snow conditions)
We are constantly trying to update our parks and maintain them to serve our guests the best we can. With 8 total parks and terrain park employees working 24 hours a day there is allot more work going on then anyone will ever know. Maybe next time you see a raker or cat driver out swing buy and talk to them about issues you are seeing or ideas you have. They are all down to hear what you guys are seeing out there. I only get on newschoolers once a month so this isn't the best place to put in request.
