So I will be purchasing a pair of 2013/2014 Jeffreys and have a few questions. I am 5'10, 130 what size would you guys recommend? 181 or 186? Secondly, where should these be mounted? They will be used primarily for all-mountain skiing with the occasional park lap.
With your Auschwietz style body composition I'd probably go with the 181s. Keep in mind that they measure true to size, so that 181 will still be about an inch taller than you. You also really have next to no mass (re: weak) so saddling yourself with extra ski seams less than intuitive.
I'm going to agree with you, with one caveat - if you do a lot of park, start moving your personal recommended a bit more forward towards true center. Just a bit better balance for spins and rails. If you plan for this ski to pretty much never touch that stuff, recc 100%.
My Jeffreys see like, maybe a park lap or two a day, just to mix it up. Would it be worth the remount? They've already been drilled 1.5 times(switched boots). I'm way less concerned with how they act on rails...I spend 99% of my time on the snow anyways.
The 90mm brakes are wider than they are specified. I have a quiver shot in my profile. The shop that mounted them said they just needed a slight tug/tweak of the brake arms to fit.
For what it's worth, I also have 115mm FKS140's on my Pillowfights. Little tight but no bending required and no problems with the bindings or skis.
I know they're not 90mm actually, but 20mm bigger seems like a lot. Either way OP, it can be done with 90s apparently, but the 115s will be easier and won't need tweaks, so if you can get the 115s I would.
Don't change something unless its broken. Unless you feel that the mount is holding you back somehow, I'd keep it where it is, save a different mount for new bindings or if you get a different boot size eventually.
i would recommend 186 but im bigger and taller. They ride short bc of the rocker. Message ON3P, they are super helpful. I did. They recommended 2 back from center for all mountain/park. They are my #1 fav skis of all time. I ride them everywhere for everything. They rip. I will be buried with these skis.
