But then there a lot of people who do realize it and don't like it. I prefer to eat better foods, and i dont feel like i should have to be duped into buying something that is still up in the air if its healthy or not. Now i do the research anyways so i don't buy into deceiving "All Natural" labels. It all comes down to these greedy companies that are more interested in the money than peoples well-being. If the require nutrition labels they should be requiring that labels include something that says it includes GM corn or soy ect.

Thats not true, it has been linked to liver and kidney failure, also obesity and cancer. The true long term affects are still very unclear. I wouldn't say that is very healthy...

Please explain how the genetic information in a plant which tells it to grow a deeper root structure, or to slow down its respiration in times of drought, would have any effect on a human. It wouldn't. There is literally nothing that makes GMO corn more toxic to humans then standard corn, UNTIL you begin using herbicides and other chemicals.

Also, how far should we go with labeling foods. For as many ingredients and foods out there, there are thousands of folks who think it is the devils food and responsible for cancer, diabetes, obesity and small pox.

Just walk into a crossfit gym and you will hear the gospel on how glutin will turn your stomach inside out. Stroll a bit further down the street and there will be someone who will tell you that more than 2 oz of meat a day will rot your intestine. How many different things should we require companies to state on their labeling? Should we bow to every special interest groups that can get a few paid off scientists to write a study?

Further more, why do we need laws requiring it? Look at all the other foods that people have decide are bad for you. Just walk through your grocery store and you will find labels advertising 'glutin free,' 'sugar free,' 'rBST free,' ect ect. If it is such an issue to folks, you will find plenty of companies will start to advertise 'GMO free.'

Companies are just afraid because having a label will make consumers think differently about their product and everyone is on an organic craze right now.

Anybody who gets into huge arguments over this and isn't a scientist is lame. No one knows what they're talking about. Natural, organic, and anything else you want to call food is just words. People just associate them with different things is all. Your body can't tell the difference between lots of stuff. Hell it can't even make the initial disitinction between glucose and FDG, which is the basis for a PET scan.

Using selection, i.e. grabbing the best looking plants and crossing them to get better plants is one way to do it. Otherwise altering the info is a different way. At the end of the day the method doesn't matter, the info is there it's going to get transcribed and translated no matter what.

Chemical carcinogens is required a long time to cause cancer. At that, a long time of chronic exposure. No one has been eating this stuff long enough to say that. Your increase in cancer rates are due to the huge number of people in the generation before us that partook in tons of other unsafe crap. Think of how many of them smoked or worked in dangerous conditions which we now know cause issues.

that said, buy organic if you want, don't if you don't want to. Then to check your state laws to see what the term organic means, in Delaware it means a particular percentage of the food is 'organic'

And last part, there's countries that denied food aid to their starving citizens because it was genetically modified foods in there. That's be countries that don't have the science to create of asses the quality of a genetically modified food. And forget that, they cant even grow there own damn corn anyway.

Never did i say anything like that, maybe you should read before jumping to conclusions. You clearly don't even know anything about this topic, many companies are starting to put non gmo labels on there food, which is great. I agree there are a lot of stupid food "fads" out there glutin free being one of the worst. But people need to know what they are eating, and people won't realize this until labels are actually put on there food, because like you stated there are tons of retards out there. The main reason we need labels required by law is that the long term effects of the GE foods are largely unknown, and until a reputable source does these long term studies we wont know, that is why.

I agree processed foods are terrible for you, but i feel we need to be equally concerned with GMOs not necessarily in processed foods, because everyone should already be smart enough to realize the processed foods are not healthy. When was the last time you saw GMOs in something healthy? Most foods that contain GMOs also contain shit loads of preservatives and other garbage.

Cobra, you can't ignore the environmental effects caused by GMO's. This includes cows, chickens, etc as well. As for diet trends and such, in the past 50 years our diet(mostly USA) has changed considerably, its evident in grocery stores. There has been an even bigger shift in the past 20 years. Eating mass amounts of sugar i.e. grain (yes including whole wheat), corn, starch, isn't healthy. It just isn't. Problem is, people are fucking stupid and don't care to educate themselves about what they eat or what effects it may have. Some may say, who fucking cares, they'll get fat and die. Well when that population reaches the size it is today, it fucks w health care, politics, farming subsidies, and all sorts of other shit. It's an endless cycle that has nothing but negative consequences.
