No, he's right. For the most part, Reddit is lame.

Just go on a few days and watch the front page. You'll pick up on trends that just never stop repeating. Particularly in the comment sections.

Also, I'm going to shoot out a number here, I would say that about 60% of the front page posts are just absolute bullshit.

Once you cut out /funny, /videos /gifs /pictures... etc and all of that bullshit, reddit can be really interesting.

Just subscribe to subreddits that actually have substance with good conversations and useful info, its 100x better

Actually I've been paying close attention to /r/gifs the last week or two. It's generally quality, funny content. And I consider myself to have a low sense of humor.

Im pretty addicted (4674 ยท 10865), but I'll admit I fucking hate the site. Especially the obnoxious self righteous users. They really are detrimental to the quality of content and discussions posted on there. If youre subbed to the right subreddits its not to bad, but theyre usually way to small to actually provide new daily content. Reddit would be fuckin dope if the people were cooler

However, the way they thread comments combined with the almost-too-basic layout leads to a less than pleasant viewing experience. I can't stand looking at a name in size 12 blue font, a comment below it, a bunch of lines and small grey text, and more posts. Newschoolers shits on the design aesthetics and helps personalize each member's post (signature, icon, etc)

>Content - Cool, reddit is the front page of the internet, cool you saw it on reddit first, IDGAF. Most of the posts start to blend together with the same exact wording [Today I learned...(random fact), So this happened...(link to stupid picture), le meme... (dumb meme)] I feel like nothing becomes epic or unique. Nothing lasts forever, it simply disappears deep into the archives or whatever. You make a stupid or awesome post on NS and it becomes timeless (imo)

>Layout- while I see your point I like the simplicity of it honestly. I'm not someone that really active within the Reddit community, I mainly just have my Sub-Reddits that I have subscribed and upvote content I like, and read comments about things that look interesting.

I just found a interesting video yesterday about Gabe Newell talking about how Linux is going to be the future of PC gaming. and how even though now with the Linux gaming population making up only 1% of the population of PC gamers, with the way other platforms seem to be headed Linux's openness will be amazing. Then you have things like r/Buildapc or pretty much any other unique Sub-Reddit.

TL;DR Reddit isn't for everybody, and yes I admit I'll scroll down page after page at 2AM when I should be sleeping, but it does have a lot of good content if you're willing to wade through the circlejerk and crap.
