my best tip is to just be as active as possible, its the best start, ride a bike to school/work. i bike about 15 miles every day, run over 20 a week. and get in on average a mtn bike ride or two a week, im 5'10 150lbs, and i eat quite a bit. i might get around 160lbs if i have a couple slow weeks and eat crappy food. but thats about as "fat" as ill get.
as for food, get a decent sized breakfast, but just because people say eat a big breakfast, that doesnt mean go crazy and chow down some massive 1200 calorie meal.
but yes it is the most important meal of the day, and i think it helps a ton when you start the day out right.
something like 2 eggs over some saute'd spinach/kale, onion, peppers etc.. or in an omlette with some cheese. a whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter and bananna. a fruit smoothie(just dont go too crazy), greek yogurt and granola. or my pre mtn. bike breakfast.. quinoa(or quinoa oatmeal mix) mixed with chia seeds, ground flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, cocoa powder, maca powder, lil bit of honey, maybe some fruit, shits pure fuel.
try to keep your lunch and dinner as big or smaller than your breakfast.
a lot of the foods i try to eat regularly are chicken, salmon, some good red meat maybe a couple times a week(i think red meat gets a bad rep, ive been eating more and more of it, even probably went over a week where the only red meat i ate was red meat, felt like i lost weight if anything) sweet potato's including the skin, beans, high fiber super good quality, whole wheat/grain breads and cereal, broccoli, lots of blueberries, almonds. grass fed butter and coconut oil for cooking.
i could live off those foods.
when your active, and exercising, dont be afraid of carbs, so long as they are good, quality carbs, over eating when your really active is ok. when your just sitting around though, try to keep the carbs down and eat quite a bit less. if your not doing anything that requires a good amount of physical energy you dont need much food to make it through the day.
i tried this bulletproof coffee thing, tried it more for a pre long ass ride or run or skiing day, energy drink, which it was awesome for. but i also definitely lost weight with that, you put a couple tbs. of butter in a blender with some coffee, and you get insane amounts of energy all day, and as a weight loss bonus your full till like dinner time pretty much.
and no soda, avoid candy, drink lots of water, tea and coffee are great, coffee in moderation tho.
