Is there a huge difference between griffons and jesters?

Besides the dif din ranges on each are they any other big difference. I'm leaning towards the griffons cuz there 100 bucks cheaper are te jesters worth the extra 100

Griffons have plastic in the toe and heel while the jesters have metal

This. The griffon is a mostly plastic build and the jester has a number of stress bearing piece replaced with magnesium (i think, metal either way) so the jester is a generally burlier binding but buy the one which is most suited to your DIN and if you're not sure, check the sticky'd thread on it. There's lots of useful info there.

They did change the toe this year but I'm not sure if it is still plastic

my thought on bindings is that it's always worth it to buy the higher din binding if you can afford it. even if you only ride a din of 7 or so the jester will release more consistently and safely then the griffon.

Not always the case. Take something like the sth or peak. The bindings are all the same other then the din setting pretty much. Unless you really need a higher din most people will be fine on a 12 din binding.

are all the sth's the same? i always thought the sty 16 had more metal in it. if it does than the bindings would perform very differently. i ride a 916, and it feels worlds different than an sty 12 when both are set at 8.

The sth 16 only differs by having a metal toe stack, other then that they are identical. So other then the 16 being just a bit more durable the 12, 14 and 16 will all ride exactly the same.

some sth 12s do NOT have the driver toe, and that makes a huuuge difference in retention. Also, generally speaking, you do not want to be with in 2 din settings of the high and low end of the binding settings.

IE if you ride at a 7, the griffons would be better b/c you would be in the middle of the din range vs being 1 above the min on a Jester. Being too low and too high can lead to release issues.
