Crazy Fool

Mike Hornbeck is known for his countless movie segments and his unique approach to urban skiing. This year, he shook up his regular program by breaking off and shooting his own movie segment, with the intent to release it online for free at the beginning of the season. He worked directly with Armada, who he has been with for a little over four years. Alongside Armada, Mike had complete control of what he was going to shoot and where he was going to shoot it.

Rather than just spending time in urban environments, Hornbeck wanted to take his skiing in different directions, incorporating his style in the backcountry as well as going back to the park. To tie it all together Mike went back to his hometown in Michigan at season's end, where he reflected on all of the places he went and people he met along the way.

I know Level 1 and you guys have filmed in MI for an urban segment for refresh I believe. But is there any other ideas to ski/film in the MI? Wether it's motown shredding, or the small resorts they have? But yet have better parks than here in AK

Let me preface this question by saying wreckallections was in my opinion your sickest segment to date, do you have any plans do similar projects in the future? I remember reading in that freeskier profile about you wanting to do a full video documenting all the played out spots in SLC, is that still in consideration?

on all your ski ventures , iv e always wondered, when you are on one of your travels do you rock the grocery store and stock up for food ?? or do ya eat on the fly most of the time at fast food /restraunt places ? or with everything does it just depend etc. ?

Thank you for releasing wreckallections for free, it's amazing you were able to put together something so good and not charge for it.

Do you feel that solo projects (whether for free or for charge) are the future of "film pros" , or will big production companies always be on top?

IMO you've always had the perfect mix of technicality, creativity, and style. How do you stay ahead of the pack in terms of innovation? In terms of skiers who inspires you, currently and back in the day? And last but not least where do you draw inspiration outside of other skiers?
