whelp-- looks like the people running your school announcements are just idiots. If the president wants a moment of silence, then public schools should participate in my opinion.

Canuck. 09/11 is our day of remembrance.
Well, I believe Remembrance day in Canada is for fallen soldiers. Veteran's day is for all soldiers who have served in a war. So they are different. But 09/11 in the U.S. is "Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance."
I believe the poster felt that a thread would be warranted if there wasn't a moment of silence on what he thinks of as Remembrance Day (thinking we shared the same holiday)-- I was letting him know this is basically our equivalent. Today and Veteran's Day.
