I just want to say that I am slightly irritated at newschoolers community here- I'm not blaming everyone, I'm just blaming those guilty of what I am about to describe here. Based on my experience, newschoolers is part experienced and helpful skiers who are absolutely amazing, on the other hand you have the users under 18 (myself included) that carry themselves with the thought that they are far better than anybody here. Skiing is supposed to be about creativity, expression, progression, and most importantly
fun. However, ego brings all of these properties down.
Example: I put up a video of a rare trampoline trick that I believe to be a comination of a flat 3 and an underflip 5, now I have an obsession with trick definitions, I can say with confidence that I know what I'm talking about when I name a trick. Next thing I know, here comes a swarm of hate. Some ignorant member even commented "rodeo 5 queer boy" despite the fact that it is nothing like a rodeo and the use of a derogatory insult is completely unnecessary. I'm not bitching about the community reaction to this video, this is just an example.
Also, some members are just out here to criticize videos just for the hell of it. Newschoolers is supposed to be an online ski community. You wouldn't hear one skier say to another skier "that was fucking gay" when they just landed their first cork 720 but missed the grab. My point being, we need to make newschoolers an awesome place instead of a place with immature, ignorant, and arrogant people. I am just generalizing here, but I don't have a problem with 90% of the community.
The olympics are less than six months away and we need to present freeskiing to the world for what it truly is- creativity, expression, progression, and fun. Many members are already doing this and have been doing so since the founding days of the site. However, some members are not responsible enough to realize that a community is built on people rather than the individual.
Once again, I hate to be the person yelling out in the theatre, but I felt that it needed to be done. I don't care if this thread gets slammed, supported, or discussed. All I care about is that it gets seen.
-Best Regards, keep the community strong.
