Stupid things you've done in the park

So the Sugarloaf apology thread got revived and it made me think, how many of us have done stupid things in the park? I'll start....

I'll start, One day I was skiing switch and lazily looking over my shoulder when I hear a YO DUDE LOOK OUT! I flip around and am a less then a foot to slamming into a park crew kid shaping up the side of a lip. I did some mission impossible wizzardry and just touched his jacket as i flew by. I stopped and apologized and at first he was like dude WTF?? but then he said it was alright and just be careful. So in closing, I am sorry Blue Mountain park crew kid.

Who else has got one?

After ejecting a ski mid butter on a big jump I flew 40-50 feet straight to my face. Was knocked out and skinned my lips and nose all up. Not the stupid part. I didn't realize that the crash was so big everyone around was getting patrol and shit, so when I came to and saw that my skis were in the middle of the tranny I assumed someonewas goinG to land on them and be super pissed. so i went sprinting up the hill and chucked my ski like 60 feet into the woods and did this commando roll off to the side. Everyone on the lift and up top of the jump started cracking the fuck up. I felt super cool

Last spring on a really slushy day I remember yelling to this kid who had the same jacket/pants as my friend "WHAT'S UP PUSSY".
I felt really bad and apologized only to have the same confusion a couple hours later when I spotted the poor kid from the top of the trail and proceeded to bomb the run and spray him with straight slush.
I'll never forget the horrified look on his face that convinced me that it was time to go home.

At Killington in the stash there were two 30' jumps with a pole in the middle but we decided to hit them anyway and i was the speed tester and cleared the first one fine and went straight into the second one and overshot it to flat... Basically took a 30' jump to 50' with no landing

I've got 3.

1: Very early season, half pipe still getting snow pumped on it, basically two long mounds with a gap in the middle.  Chairlift is right over pipe, i'm quite high and my friend says "I'll give you $40 to jump off." I jumped straight off, about 20 feet, and rode down the backside of the pipe switch a little like this

rode away unscathed, hyped as fuck and $40 richer

2: Some friends brought fireworks to the mountain. We light them and throw them off the chairlift the entire ride. We threw them at people who laughed about it and at a gaper dad and his kid who said "I hope that was worth it, because this is your last run at this mountain." we laugh, and ignore him until we realize.... ski patrol 2 chairs behind us. soo.... we hauled it into the woods and laughed about it.

3: This happened to my friend not me, but regardless still awesome. So we're filming on the last day of the season, and there's this gaper kid in a hollister sweatshirt pizzaing across the knuckle. We tell my friend to drop, that kid will move. So he hauls into the cannon, and is winding up, when the kid comes out of nowhere, rides right in front of the cannon. My friend jumps as hard as he can spread eagles over this kids head, and taps his helmet. Funniest thing I've ever seen.

Oh and while i'm reminiscing on how stupid I act when I ski..
Pretty sure I was drunk and thinking I was invincible convincing someone that it's impossible to get hurt on an airbag

I don't even know I just remember how fucked my neck was for a while.

my friend said hed flip if my other friend did it so he went for it and almost landed a fronty then my other friend went and bailed and broke his collerbone and was out for the season

Bombing trails on gaper day popped off a fairly large roller fucking around grabbed mute and held it out to the ground, ripped out my bindings. Needless to say I had a good buzz going.

when i was in 5th grade i was at sunapee and decided to try and 5 off a unreasonably big jump with a short and steep landing over shot, ski ejected as i took off and ate an incredible amount of shit

Me and my friends were training the alley at 7springs and somehow we all caught up to each other and there were 5 people all going the same speed about to hit the last jump in the alley at the same time. I was the second in from the left and we were all sitting down to get speed(if you ride 7springs, you know the speed issues) and my one idiot friend that was in the middle decided he didn't want to hit the jump anymore. So he starts going left(towards me) and I see it happening and dive(literally dive) out of the way. He ends up taking out my friend next to me and they get all mangled up, crash, and do a face drag up the jump. It was the greatest thing I ever saw. They weren't to happy after that.

Jarrod did basically the same thing the first time he hit that (in face we changed the way the skirting is because of it, it used to not overlap the last leg on the inside which made you catch even easier on it), he's probably only tried it like 5 or 6 times...he hates that thing. I, on the other hand, love it, haha.

I guess my first ACL story is a decent one too.

Stowe had a 3 jump line of his an hers, I wanted to 7 the last one but kept falling on the first jump doing 360's (lame). So finally I land one, but some kid in the other lane fell and went sliding in front of the second jump. I went around jump #2 and straight into #3, completely forgetting that my speed was miles off and I overshot the shit out of this jump with a super penciled 7.

One icy ass day a small jump as my local mountain had a nice speed to it, so I thought it would be a good idea to 7 it. First try land a little off axis and slide out. Second try over rotate to 810, catch on 100% ice landing and proceed to snap and dislocate shoulder. 3 months out of commission.

speedchecked when doing a 3 over a 45 ft jump, cased it by 5 feet and rammed my knee into my chin which broke off a tooth. I was lifted so i continued to ski the rest of the day

I was instructing a lesson and took my kids through the park and as we went through the gate a girl came hurtling down into the park and nailed one of my kids. My kid was fine but the girl broke her leg so fucking bad it was like the skis were like this: =========>

I was cruisin' down the hill super fast and some old man snakes me. (Could've sworn he did it on purpose) so he got knocked over and was like moaning and couldn't get up and I was just thinking, "holy shit I just killed this guy.. " I asked him if he was alright and he just yelled at me " IM FINE " and I offered to help him up and he said no but I still felt really bad so I stood there the whole time he was trying to get up alone and after about an hour passed he told me about how many times he had been slammed from the sidelines by giant college football players. Finally I said sorry one more time before I left and he told me to be careful on the mountain.. I felt super bad the rest of the day.. :(

I do countless stupid things in the park everyday. Mostly just fuck with people.

This isn't really a crazy stupid thing I did, but it is quite humorous.

So i skied down to the lift line, and when I was sliding into line, I went by this huge, massachusetts looking motherfucker, and I say "hey dad!" SO this guy decides to grab me by my jacket and tell me to behave and fuck off, and ask me where my parents are... I told him that my dad is right here and its him, so he pushes me over and skis off.

Mines pretty lame, but it was the second day that I knew how to do a backflip and I was learning to lay them out. So I was like "fuck it" and decided to hit the biggest jump on our mountain with one (about 30 ft, but pretty dang lippy). I was good with speed for the jump so I went in and I was so focused on the backflip that I completely forgot to speed check and over rotated the flip to my back. It took me a while to get up.

had my din too loose and one ski didn't have a working break, didn't quite land square off a rail and pew! off it went. then it snaked a kid hit the lip of a rail and flew into the trees while me and two friends tried to chase it down.

i went home fixed....

...that rotation so when i did that trick again i didn't land sketchy

pretty much happened to me on my second day in park. Mad snow storm and right at the front of a jump, powder had built up. needless to say, double ejected right into the face of the jump, rolled up and over it, luckily it was only a medium so didnt absolutely destroy myself.

Me and some friends jumped off the chairlift and tried tricks onto the beggining of the halfpipe, we got warned and pissed alot of people off but this was back when Blue had the pipe under the lift, sorry Blue Mountain staff and people we pissed off

Caught an earlier post about the skirting on a rail and it made me think about this crazy story:

This happened back in the day in Vail when their park was absolute shit (a lot better now).  Anywho, the skirting on the rails was not up to par.  On a flat down, my friend somehow came off of it and got his fingers caught between the skirting and the rail with his momentum still pushing him forward.  He came up to me directly after holding his hand and screaming.  Someone radioed patrol and they met us at the bottom.  He was in bad shape.  Didn't even want them to touch it. 

Result:  At the hospital they cut the glove off--the skin on all his fingers were sheared off and all four fingers were mangled baaad.  Surgery, multiple screws, and skin grafts.  VPC put a little more effort in after that..

i was skiing switch right at the bottom of the main lift extremely slow probably switch pizza-ing talking to my friend wo was on the lift when i hit one of the riblets and got stuck in the well of it. lol

I boosted off of a roller at mt snow. Did a big shifty, only to notice a small kid right where I was going to land. Hipchecked him hard, we both yard saled hard. I collected my shit and ran up to check on the kid. He was fine, thankfully, but his mom was real pissed so I apologized profusely and dipped.

Another one that actually happen to me was in Santa's beard at 7springs. It's usually packed in their which it was when this happen. I was hitting acouple rails and riding the tow rope up, I saw there was on of those caution signs(the signs made out of the PVC or whatever). I had the bright idea to try and jump over it. With no speed I'm not sure what I was thinking. I jumped right onto it and it just slide out from under my feet and I hit the ground so fast. It was so embarrassing with everybody seeing it so I just laid there for acouple minutes in shame. That's for sure the stupidest thing I've done in the park.
