Stupid things you've done in the park

So the Sugarloaf apology thread got revived and it made me think, how many of us have done stupid things in the park? I'll start....

I'll start, One day I was skiing switch and lazily looking over my shoulder when I hear a YO DUDE LOOK OUT! I flip around and am a less then a foot to slamming into a park crew kid shaping up the side of a lip. I did some mission impossible wizzardry and just touched his jacket as i flew by. I stopped and apologized and at first he was like dude WTF?? but then he said it was alright and just be careful. So in closing, I am sorry Blue Mountain park crew kid.

Who else has got one?

I once had a kid hit a jump (30' table) while I was shaping it in the morning and say sorry in mid air...your story kinda reminded me of that, haha.

As far as stupidest thing I've personally done, most likely snaking people at high speeds with a beer in my hand at the end of the season...but who hasn't done that?

I was snowboarding and I sat on every landing and take off, always making sure I was in the blind spots. Then I would yell at people to watch out and call them skier fags.

I hit some small box after some kid like 6 hit it of course he fell and I got out of the way in time but snowed the kid right in the face

So a 10 year old who was still pizzaing asked told me to do a flip. So I said alright kid, if I land it you gotta try it. He agreed and I went and did a little ninja flip of a knuckle. The kid was baffled and I was about to tell the poor kid he didn't have to try and that I was fooling around but he hit a 10 foot jump and tried to flip but ended up on his ass and he started to cry

Jump off the chairlift onto a rail below...Skis didn't like a 15 foot vertical drop neither did my boots..

At Keystone on the pro line there was a mushroom feature right under the chair. I went to do a fucking simple tail tap. Didn't have enough speed. Slammed into it hard. Land on my back, and began to slide down the landing. Steezly spin around and get back up on skis, now riding switch. Somehow loose composure and fall. Ski pops off. Everyone on the chair yellin shit at me and laughing. 0 fucks given.

never even seen a superpipe before, needed to go to other side of one, proceed to go way too fast (thought i would lose speed way faster) and land on a snowboarder. and no, he was not cool about it.

It didnt happen in the park but in the chairlift line, I was skiing switch through the end of the park and here was a little kid making huge S's across the end of the park run towards the main run where everyone is going towards mid mountain and I was on the side of the run. As i turned around, the kid was within 2 feet of me and his skis went over mine and my pole slashed his cheek and he was all cut up. I apologized and said sorry and everything but his older sister maybe 20 (she snowboarded so it makes sense) or so and i was 15 went ape shit on me and said "you wanna be white thug wu tang clan park rats are F'ing this and that" and just blew up. I wasnt even wearing baggy clothing really that day. Ski patrol came and she got all pissed off and in the end she made me lose my pass for a month. So probably my fault, but that is my story

oh yeah was going over a medium sized jump and some 7 year old girl came past the jump and skied straight across the landing without looking and i landed right on her and her older brother got angry as at me and said it was my fault for some reason. why doesn't anybody teach their kids how to fucking ski?

me and my friend tried to high five each other in mid air off the 4th hit in I-70 at Keystone last year, and just completely crashed into each other, it failed miserably. It was fun though

I was doing my B-Dog imitation and I came on the side of the rail and popped over it, but I didn't look behind and there was someone sliding the rail, so I jump right in front of him and it was a close call. I went to apologize because it was clearly my fault, and the other guy also apologized, and he really had no reason to.

I do a lot of stupid things because i suck at making quick decisions.

There was a 6 ft high rainbow box i was planning to slide, but at the last second i realized it had no lip and i would clip my tips on the side. so instead of going off to the side like a normal person i decided to straddle it

did not feel so great

hit 3 jumps in a 4 jump line at Purgatory and decided to cut over to hit some rails i didnt realize they had changed the park up over night and went off the side of to roll for the 4th jump and fell like 12 feet to flat slid on ice and almost hit a tree. other than that just playing spin to win with friends trying to do 7s off rail lips

one time, someone told me i did a jump into the lift tower.

another time at a small rail comp at my hill, my friends were working for the local boardshop putting on different small contests

friend: what should we do next?
me: spin to win contest? (off a tiny lip where a rail used to be)
friend: ummm ok, you go first.
me: 270 edge catch -> concussion -> seizures-> ambulance -> hospital

me: *wake up* can i go skiing tomorrow?
doctor: well... i dont see why not.  

went skiing the next day.

standing on the landing of a jump kiind of off to the side.  Snowboarder takes the jump and crashes into me.  I stand up and collect all the carnage that exploded everywhere, while being super apologetic.

This was before i realized you can carve off jumps.  I always thought ppl just skied straight down to the jummp like a runway and go off dead center on the lip haha.   I remember thinking to myself how it was completely impossible for this kid to hit me because i was off to the side.  So i concluded that it must'v been some kind of wizardry and moved on lol.

Try to butter off a jump, caught my edge, flipped, then slammed my back on the deck of the jump. Probably broke something, not entirely sure, all I know is that it hurt like a bitch.

One day on a really slushy day at blue mountain I was Rollin into a jump caught an edge in the slush and my one ski somehow ended up behind me and I face planted into the face of the jump.

Once jumped over an old guy on Tele skis. It was at the end of the day and i assumed the mountain was basically empty like it always is but i boosted over a knuckle on the trail and soared over him. I clicked out and hiked up to apologize and as i started to, he started calling me a low life person who will never go to college and will end up dead before the time i turn 20. Then i chuckled and rode off and said "have a nice day sir" which pissed him off more

Called last run back when I was first getting into part. I was hitting an urban down and caught my tip and somehow managed to split my knee wide open and had to get an MRI because it was the size of a fucking cantaloupe. luckily nothing was torn and I only had to get stitches

Standing at the top of a 3 jump line and noticed a gaper with his very very small kid (you just started walking and you are skiing?? small) standing on the side of the knuckle on jump 3.  They were way off to the side and I stay pretty central on my landings so I drop in.  Somewhere along the way that kid pizzas into the center of the landing on jump 3.  I hit it and spin a 3--just as I'm coming around I spot the kid and thought I nailed her in the head!! 

Landed and immediately stopped to see how she was.  She was down and sliding toward me down the rest of the landing.  I WAS SCARED SHITLESS!  Ran up there and grabbed the kid while her dad looked on like a moron.  Ran with the kid to the side of the jump thinking I just seriously injured her.  Turns out I never hit her and she just fell when I flew by.  I start reaming dad out only to find he doesn't speak English.  Went straight to the lodge and called it a day.  You don't know adrenaline until you think you just killed a toddler..

Something like this happened to me once.

Coming off a cannon rail and this tiny kid like 2 years old pizzas directly under me. I saw it happen in slow mo as i slid up the rail. I didn't know what to do so i laid completely flat in the air. I hand dragged the top of the kids dome and then fell flat on my stomach.

Funny the dad did the same thing just kind of sat there and watched like a stick in the mud.

So many young kids in the park, I don't think I went in the park until I was at least 11... I remember I didn't understand that you had to wait to hit a feature, so I just snaked a bunch of boarders. Dude did it right though when he came up to me after. Didn't lose his cool and actually taught me park etiquette instead of bitching at me.

More recently, a few years ago in Tremblant I was blasting of some floaters outside of the park. There was a woman in the middle of the slope about 30-50 feet in front of me, and I figured she'd first, stay in the middle of the slope like she had been, and second stay far enough in front of me to stay out of my range. So I popped off a mound on the right side of the slope, and right as I popped this lady took a sharp turn right into where I was jumping. All I could do was think 'oh shit' and yelled to try to get her to see. Luckily, I just missed her, but another few inches to the left and my edges would've been right in her neck.

decided to go as fast as I could without realizing they were blowing snow. hit the fresh snow, double ejected and did a frontflip mid air straight to my back and rolled down the hill and then my leg landed on my ski. shit was pretty deep

It wasn't in the park but I was going down one of those really easy trails that wrap around the mountain. I was skiing the entire thing switch. And in my blind side was a fallen tree on the side of the trail, I slammed into the tree and crashed so hard. You could see my head print in the snow from when I flipped over. This woman came over and was trying to get ski patrol, she wouldn't leave. I thought I was okay. I ended up yelling at her to leave. I went down to the lodge and got some ice, I ended up going home so I could properly ice and get some ibuprofen. I strained my shoulder and was really sore all over but was okay.

I hit a sick rail and was pretty psyched so I stopped but then saw a box to hit. On flat slope, I skated to speed up to have enough speed to clear the gap. Long story short, I didn't and ended up eagle spread on top of the box with my legs feeling like they were broken.

Oh yeah, and it was on my birthday. No joke.

thought a double was a good idea first day back in the season, 4th run, after not sleeping for a day or 2 and not even being cleared to ride.

Also the front flip off a box even though I kind of forgot how to do frontflips but saw someone do one and though it looked cool, knocked the wind out and killed my back.

Trying any real tricks at gore or west mountain ever ;)
