Uniforms in the 2014 Olympics

I was reading Bishop's thread about style in the Olympics. Big surprise, a few members started arguing about wearing tall tees in the Olympics. Or something like that. Anyway, that got me thinking, won't mostly everyone be wearing uniforms?

Every other ski discipline that I can think of has country suits and uniforms. Most teams at the 2010 snowboard halfpipe certainly had uniforms last Olympics. However, not every country had uniforms. I remember Japan just had the rising sun on their helmets. I'm sure a few other countries also decided to forgo the uniform.

Anyway, I haven't seen anything on uniforms for ski halfpipe or slopestlye in 2014. Has anyone else heard anything of this? Will there be uniforms? Who is making them?

Please, feel free to photoshop absurd/amazing country uniforms and put them in this thread.

they're not american made. theyre american design..

i remember seeing on the news maybe 2-3 months ago that lauren designed them here and they were made in vietnam... the thing that really pisses me off, other than the fact that lauren lied to the US, is that RUSSIA MADE their uniforms in the US.

US + vietnam made + Russia + US made = bullshit

Yeah mist teams should have there national suit in place. I know the gb team have unveiled there's recently. I would think most nations will be showing them off soon.

Well the article/link I posted along with my post stated this:

"Ralph Lauren announced Friday that the uniforms it provides the U.S. Olympic team during the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, will be made in the United States"

They have an "olympics" for motocross, the motocross de nations, and they all have their country's colors.
The cool thing about it is that they let the sponsors take care of it and they release a limited amount of them.

It would be cool if it were like that for the olympics. So say a guy in the us sponsored by saga, saga would come up with the design and colors and maybe release like 100 to the public. Say another guy from Germany is sponsored by saga, they'd make his uniform too. Each company would have to make them for their sponsored athletes instead of everyone getting Ralph Lauren gaper suits.

That would be sick but I'm wondering if there are some regulations on advertising your brand, because I'm sure Ralph Lauren paid a lot of money to be the "Official USA Olympic Gear". Same concept as when the hockey goalies would have to tape over their brands in the Olympics, I'm not sure if they still do that anymore though.

Yeah there are still regulations on sponsor logos which all come from the days when athletes were supposed to be amateurs to compete. Athletes can have logos from sponsors bug the logos have to be small. Athlete uniforms will bear the sponsor logo but it won't be super obvious. This actually also helps the riders, say they already have an outerwear sponsor but have to wear a different brand they will not want the logos to be too obvious.

This would actually be a really fucking cool idea. I wish it could happen but isn't the Olympics all about non sponsors? i mean i know the Olympic games have sponsors but i remember someone saying that athletes themselves weren't allowed to make any big statements about their personal sponsors.

there will be uniforms for the olympics.. canadas are made by columbia and americans by the north face.

Style has changed a bit, but neither of them are THAT bad. This also begs the question, will pipe and slopestyle have different uniforms?
