Bindings for K2 Pettitor

Hey guys I just got some Pettitors and was wondering what binding and brake size I should get. I'm thinking the Look Pivot 14 (130 mm brake) or FKS (115 mm brake). I know they're the same binding, just different colors. Should I bend the FKS brake to fit the 120 underfoot Pettitor or just get the 130mm Pivot? I have jester's with 115mm brake for my 102 underfoot kung fujas so i don't think a 130 brake would be too big. The orange fks color would look sick on the pettitors but i guess the green could work too? What should I do? And also I'm not interested in any Marker shit, just Pivot and FKS!

My opinion... Go FKS! 130 on a 120 ski will suit just fine . No bending issues . And the FKS fire orange will look killer on the petitors!

130 should be a good fit. How hard do you ski? I broke 2 pivot 14 toe pieces last year rcmnd going to the 18 or metal toe piece. Also pivots suck to put on in pow compared to other. But who am i kidding with the durability and efficientcy only ride pivots anyways.

Damn sounds like the Pivots suck. Should I rethink the Jesters? And I ski pretty hard. How do they suck putting on in pow,? Thanks for the help.

Salomon just changed the heeltrack on the sth driver to be metal instead of plastic. It's now called the STH WTR. I really like my STH 14 Drivers, and unlike the FKS you don't need to remove part of the binding to replace a broken brake. They also click in really nicely even if covered in pow.

That's sweet, I was looking at those too and I'll definately consider them. I just liked the Pivot and FKS because of the turntable heel. I've heard that it prevents alot of injuries and everyone seems to like it. How far can the driver mover forward to adjust to new boot sizes because I heard the fks and pivot can only go 10mm or less which is kinda a turnoff too because I'll nedd bigger boots next year. Thanks for the help.

Have you tried the Pivot or FKS? If so, do u recommend the drivers over them?

Sth will have more track adjustment then the fks for sure. The fks are a pain to adjust and get a good forward pressure. The new sth are great but so are the old ones. And just to correct above the old ones had a steel track too hence sth, steel track housing by get ate certainly more durable then then fks 140. And don't worry about turntable heels. Until you are skiing hard enough to need the fks 180 you won't really find the benefit of a turntable. Have a look for last seasons sth 12 or 14 drivers or this season sth2 13.

STH 16 and steel have always had a metal heeltrack if I'm thinking of the part that you are, the WTR name change has nothing to do with that, it just has an adjustable AFD that allows it to work with salomons WTR boot series. WTR=Walk To Ride.

All sth have always have a steel track, tht I what sth stands for, steel track housing. The new sth2 is a totally new binding. It is based off the guardian and features a wider mount patern then previous sth bindings. There is a 13 and 16 din version and both salomon and atomic will release them under the sth name.

My 115mm Pivot18 brakes fit my 118mm Moment Bibby's fine.. I guess they can fit 120mm if you only scrape off some plastic on the inside of the brakes or do a little bend..

I don't think I would ride anything other than Tyrolia Peak/4frnt Deadbolt 15/18's. I had 18s on my Luve Life 2's and now they are on my New Life's. I'm 6'4 and about 265 and I have complete confidence in them.

Deadbolts are no longer going to be produced, check out the new attack binding. Same heel, same footprint as the toe, just a smaller lighter toepiece that goes to a 16 din. huge improvement in my opinion.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. I was at a sale event recently and the salomon vendor was telling me that the metal track was new this year. He didn't really seem like he knew what he was talking about though, the sales peons aren't always very knowledgable.

Personally I've ran with STH12's over the past few seasons and love everything about them. I bought a second pair for this season as well. I don't have any complaints and see no reason to change bindings...

But, because a buddy of mine is going to be riding some of my gear, and he'll be using a pair of his own Pivots/FKS, then I'll be picking up a pair to for the ease of sharing (everything binding freedom inserted BTW). I'm totally comfortable with being clipped into a pair of these without having ridden them. They have a good rep for a reason.

Beyond those two, these new Salomon STH WTR's that have been mention would be great, Look's PX12's are good if you're light (I've seen the heel on these explode and get crooked from some weird crashes) Deadbolts seem to have a good rep and following as well.

My friend says the turntable heel prevents acl tears and lots of injuries and that's what everyone else says, so wouldn't that benefit me? do you know how heavier the sth 16 is and can you really feel its weight that much over something like the pivot 14 or jester?

They will not prevent acl tears any more then any other binding. Some people claim that the more elastic feel of the heel can help prevent pre releasing but it is not in a pre-release when an acl tear will happen normally, its when a binding does not release. Weight wise the sth 12,14 and 16 will be slightly heavier then the fks 140 and jester but much lighter then the fks 180. But don't really worry about binding weight. The weight is so close to the pivot point ie your boot, that you won't feel it. The swing weight of the ski is much more the factor you want to consider.

Ok thanks man, so I'm kinda sold on the STH now and was wondering if i should get the 16 din or 13 din. My din is at 8 prolly 8.5-9 this season. It's a $70 difference but I'm just wondering if I really need a 16 and the little extra money and weight that comes with it. I do have 16 din marker jesters on my other skis though.

No point going for the 16. The 13 will be perfect for you. You will be right in the middle of the din range. And it's the same build as the 16 anyway so no point spending more when you won't get any benefit from it.

Personally I like the have my brakes fairly snug rather than spindly so I prefer to get a slightly undersized brake and tweak it out to fit.

With regards to fitting a 115mm brake on a 120mm ski... have a look at the fingernail on your pinky finger. It's probably about 10mm wide. Then halve that width. That's the difference between a 115mm brake and a 120mm ski. And since there's 2 arms to the brake, halve it again for 2.5mm - that's about the width of a grain of rice. Given the manufacturing tolerances in a brake, you could probably just shove the brake on to the ski and the play in the brake assembly would "give" enough to get it on there. If not, a real quick tweak, with bare hands, would be enough to have it sitting nicely.

I've got 115mm-brake FKS on my Hellbents - the 132mm model - and the brakes aren't even significantly bent.

Nope defiently steel track housing. Only the sth 16 features the metal toe stack. The steel track was what set the sth apart from the z series.

I have the sth driver 14s on my pettitors and they feel great! Plus sean pettit has the sth 16s on his so you really cant go wrong with the sth's.

hey bro i also bought the new Pettitors. But I'm opting to go with the Jesters/125 brakes. I have both Look Pivot 12's and 14's. just think the markers do a better job. let me know how you like the pivots and il let ya know how i like the markers turn out.

Alright man, but ifyou haven't already bought the Jester, then I reccomend not buying it. I have Jesters on my K2 Kung Fujas and I don't like them. They are ful plastic, have a high stack height, are hard to get into when there's snow all over, ive seen them pull out of my friends skis, and they don't have the pivot which your knees will love. Just letting you know. The jester wasn't super bad, it just the pivot is way way better.
