I surely hope that at least some competitors listen to this. Bobby, Gus, Goepper etc. Will no doubt be tripling though. It's inevitable.

Double post but style isn't based on what people wear, dumbass. Look at Jossi, for example. Never seen him in a tall tee but he's one of the most stylish skiers in the game. I hate the tall tee thug life stereotype in park skiing.

Word Bishop. I was thinking the same thing. I'd love to see Delorme doing straight air shuffles or cork 3s so much more than the triple fest that its going to be.

Preschoolers should give a prize to whichever skier does the fewest total degrees of spinning in competition. In mens and womens so women wont have an unfair advantage... lol

meh, I'd prefer to spin fast. Just got Nordica to make me a pair of 132's in case I make it to the games. I've decided also to discontinue grabbing because it looks stupid.

Just so you know Bishop, the fad of "style" dissipates around 2019 and "twerk" takes over. You'll see.

Do we know how the olympics will be judged yet? For example, will a triple cork be given maximum points (as a quad would be judged in aerials) or will it be scored similar to x-games/dew tour judging where there is a certain percentage of the run's score is devoted to "style and tricks etc?"
The format of scoring will have a huge impact on whether skiers want stylish runs or not.

It depends on the judges. I feel like the judges at the Olympics will judge based on the technicality of the run and not on the style. Any competition where judging defines the result is rediculous because it is all subjective. A true winner will always be defined by objective results because human emotions will not play a role. For example, in racing, whoever is the fastest is the winner. However, I feel like the people who will watch the Olympics do not necessarily care about the technicality of the tricks because they have no idea how many spins or flips you are doing. So fuck the police and wear tall t skirts.

one of the 3/4 jumps in slope style comps should have a max of one flip and 540 or 720, so it solely comes down to style, I'm not a fan of limiting what skiers can do but I like this idea of a style jump

You kids are so fucking stupid. It's the fucking Olympics, the highest level of competition within any sport. Of course there is going to be triples and big, technical tricks being thrown down. Quit your bitching about "Delorme's steeze" and "Casabon's butters" because it's getting fucking old. Sure, I love watching Delorme's type of skiing as well, but the Olympics isn't the place for it.

You guys are the same people that didn't see anything wrong with Henrik throwing gang signs and barking into the camera at X. It was embarrassing as shit. We should just be thankful that Tanner and Henrik are not in the running for Sochi. Keep your "I'm part of the underground/thug ski culture and I'm against progression" mentalities to yourself and keep jerking off to B&E edits.

I don't think anyone here is aginst progression. What people are really afraid of is that it's gonna turn into somthing like racing clubs. You have to be part the club, some runs are private cause they pay extra, instead of riding with friends and having fun your part of a program with an instructor who yells and screams at you cause you can't dub.

That is what worries me about taking freeskiing to the olympics.

Giving up future spins would probably be out of the question, because most, if not all, competitors want to win the comp. But maybe competitors should think of ways to make triples as styly as possible while maintaining that level of huck. Give everyone another nose butter triple to go crazy over, so to speak.

Language aside, this is the most honest realistic opinion in this thread. It's the Olympics guys, competitors are out to win and will do what makes the judges happy. If you want to see a change, there needs to be a change to the scoring criteria.

The highest level competitions are not the time or place for politics. "It is what it is", as you say. Competitors can either be a part of it and comply, or not compete. Both are valid options.

I think that the point of the petition was to have skiers in the Olympics who know that style won't win, but will do it anyway so that the people of the world will see style and appreciate it. For any non-skiers, a triple is cool, but a buttered or a slow spin will leave a better impression. It's all about presentation to the non-skiing world.

I would argue that a triple cork will leave a much better impression with a non skier then a styled out 5. All they will see is a 540 and that will be less impressive to them then a triple 16 for example. It's only really the people on this site who want to see so called "style" personally I want to see the very best skiers throwing th very hardest tricks. The best impression the skiers can give is being at least equal to the snowboarders, and you know crippled are going to be thrown there. If every skier went full on "style" and did nothing more then 7 and 9's then the general consensus would be skiing is far behind snowboarding.

id love to see runs that are scrubbed in any way to just be full of stylish tricks. Dont stomp the first jump? cork 3s and rodeo 5s all the way down.

Now that the general population knows that triples have been done in skiing, thats what they are expecting in the olympics. The olympics is a competition, not an edit. They only have a couple runs to impress the world. Theyre going to huck beyond belief because they want people not on newschoolers to recognize them, almost the way everyone recognizes shaun white. They arnt going to get that fame with steezy 5s and tail presses.

Style has to do with opinion. Some people might like style that others hate. Judges cannot judge based on their own opinions. This is why it will become a huckfest. A 1620 is definitely 180 degrees higher than a 1440. I just hope they try too make their triples as stylish as possible. Style is what seperates a hucked triple from a slightly slower, more tweaked and better landed one.

I agree with you 100%. A triple is easily way more impressive than somebody doing a cork 5 with loads of style. triples take balls. style takes doing the same trick over and over and over..
