YES I REALIZE THIS IS GEAR TALK I NEEDED A QUICK ANSWER. Ok so here's my story. I bought 2012 Line Step Ups last season and absolutely hated them. I noticed that through out the year they would get very slow and catchy on everything including snow and boxes. I tried waxing differently and grinding them but nothing helped. Since I bought them on backcountry.com I figure I get the lifetime warranty. So I need to return them and find new skis fast before this season starts. I'm looking for a playful, buttery ski that can hold up for bigger jumps too. It also needs to be very durable. I really wanted to get Armada Thalls but now they are all out. So now I have been considering Line Chronics. What do you guys suggest? Also , where do you buy your skis? I'd prefer to spend under $400
I know that we are currently in Ski Gabber and this is clearly suppose to be in Gear Talk. I made a thread in Gear Talk over an hour ago and I never get a response, so I figured I'd get a quick reply here. You can delete it now if you want
Will 185 chronics work? I'm 6'1 and 155 lbs, I ski mostly park and some all mountain. I know they are rockered. Last year I skied 171 step ups last year and they felt really short
I just felt really under pressure and stressed over everything. I had the perfect ski picked out months ago and then they sold out, causing me to desperately go into a searching frenzy. I figured returning my old skis would take at least a month but now they are assuring me it will be a lot quicker.
As for my search.. I found some 181 cm 2013 Thalls on powder7, which were my first choice. Sooo '13 Chronics vs. '13 Thalls?? I feel like the Thalls would be better for the park considering the are specifically designed for that and they are 181 cm instead of 185
The Chronics, even though 185, will still ski shorter due to the rocker and Line's just measure short. Both would be great in the park but the slightly wider waist of the Chronic and the rocker would help for versatility out of the park as well.
