Can someone clue me in on Nordica freestyle boots?

Basically, what's the deal with Nordica freestyle boots this past season and this season?

It's been 4 years since I got boots. I've been riding the '09 full tilt booters. Completely tired of them. Pretty much hate them.

I went to a couple different shops to test boots today. One great bootfitter, one not so great. But that's besides the point. I think I like Nordica boots. And yes i know, go to a bootfitter, buy in the shop, etc etc I've heard that a million times.

I'm just basically wondering how the 12/13 line of boots differs from the 13/14 line.

Is the Nordica Double Six now the Nordica Ace 1 Star?
Is the Nordica Dead Money now the Nordica Ace 2 Star?

If so, what's last years equivalent of this year's Ace 3 Star?

And what have they changed? Just the graphics? I mean, i hate their 12/13 boot graphics and the 13/14 ones are really nice and simple. It would seem kind of silly to spend a couple hundred extra just to get the simpler newer graphic, though.

And if anyone has experience riding these boots, i'd love to hear what you think. I'm tempted to go with the Dead Money or Ace 2 star.

ayo! fellow upstater. Not sure if this has to do with anything your talking about but I have 2013 ace of spades and they are the most comfortable boot I have had. They are a extremely rugged boot. The flex on them is very smooth. If you have any questions I would love to answer them.

Ace 1 star is ace of spades

Ace 2 star is dead money

Ace 3 star is Double six

TJS pro is a beefier, narrower AOS/Ace 1

You have it backwards:

Ace 3 Star is Ace of Spades

Ace 2 Star is Dead Money

Ace 1 Star is Double Six

And the TJ is a 99 last, firmer flexing 3 Star, hope this helps!

Had the Nordica 2011 Ace Of Spades.. Pretty much hated them, but i think that's kinda personal. It just seemed so heavy and felt bad skiing in - could have been bad fitting of course. I've then got the drop kick last season which i love!

Had an accident with my foot that makes intuition liner the only choice for me, since my right foot has taken some damage and actually fit's differently.. This was before the 2011 season :)

Guess I have one more question. More of a question for a bootfitter but it doesn't hurt to get more opinions.

5'6", 140 pounds, I ski about 60 park / 40 all mountain.

Will the Ace 1 Star be OK flex wise, or should I step it up to the 2 star?

I have the double six from 2 years ago and I have no problems with the flex stabding at 6'5.

It has a bit more to do with your ankle flex then it does weight. I had some of the double six shells that someone gave me. The flex is odd I found them pretty soft but I'm a bit bigger then you. But how you can flex them depends more on the way in which your foot sits, your footbed will alter things and also your instep height. if you need to raise the instep to make it fit then you may find the boot easier to flex. Also if you tried and had a lot of pronation due to trying without a footbed that can alter the flex. Overall a boot fitter will be your best bet at recommending which flex to go for as he can see how you interact with the boot and can also take into account what he plans to do with your footbeds
