This is a tough one....
On one hand, I really respect Tom and Kyle's aim for the movie. I have stated many times on this forum, it has been long overdue for Tom to have a legit season edit ( instead of several smaller parts with several companies ). I think this year they put out pretty much the most banger ski segment of all time in terms of diversity , filming, editing, and of course riding. I have watched the movie about 10 times, and I loved it.
On the other hand, I think Tom has a great personality, and sense of humour. I am a huge fan of his, and I always appreciate his interviews and the jokes he always cracks. He seems like a really fun dude to be around. Although the movie showcased his skiing perfectly, I personally would have preferred more substantial interviews and behind the scenes type stuff. I generally like when movies include information about the locations, riders, and stuff because I think it gives ski movies a much greater connection with the audience that way. Although Tom and Kyle accomplished what they set out to do , I would have preferred it to be a longer, more compete movie - who wouldn't?
Anyway, perhaps a way that this whole thing could really be solved would be if Kyle could make a few 'Making of the Wallisch Project' edits. That way we could get more info on Tom, and the behind the scenes of the movie. and then Tom's seg still has no interviews - which is something he clearly seems to want.
TL;DR
I loved the movie, but have to agree with the review that the potential for the movie wasn't met.
