Wearing Nice Shit to class

I'm in college and I just feel more comfortable and confident when I wear expensive shirts. Is that bad?

 I mean, a lot of people just wear sweats to class, but I like how I look in Polo.

The habit/trend has given me several nicknames over my years at college

[  polo prince, prince of polo, pony boy  ]

Does this send the wrong message?

It's the same old ASAP rocky guy who always claims he's super rich, but it turns out his dad drives a used stripper model 5 series and could barely afford to send his only child to a mediocre private school. All he's doing is dropping names of expensive designer brands nobody gives a shit about to sound cool and/or rich. He doesn't own $800 shirts and neither does his peasant ass father.

You do realize that "expensive" is a subjective term-right?

For example, eating out at Fridays is cheap to most adults, but expensive for a college student.

Use your head and realize not everyone spends as much $ on fashion as you, nor cares about it as much.

LOL JD you're actually speaking to someone who knows a thing or two about fashion & actually rather far from newly discovered. I name dropped bc people assumed I wear Jordans.

but here we go:

- wear Rick bc I wear a lot of black. Some shit Rick makes I would never wear. Primarily cop hoodies & still have my dunks from ss10.

- I wear Balenciaga bc I get 35% off at the soho store. Pretty much only things I wear from Balenciaga are tees & the multimaterial sneakers & wore Arenas way back before ye made every little black kid buy them. There's no lack in quality, but Ghesquiere seemed to always focus more on womenswear & hopefully it'll change w Wang in the next couple of seasons.

- KVA is simple & clean primarily relevant to me for shirts & knitwear.

- KVA is nothing like Hedi, nor does he want to be. Hence why the aesthetic's completely changed w KVA. DH essentially just serves as an additional outlet as expression for KVA but at a more powerful house where the target audience is not the same as for his kva line.

- & as for Margiela, I only wear archived pieces from prior to Margiela's departure from the house. Quality has diminished after he left. Pretty much turned into Diesel. As for the 5 zip I agree. But, it has become mmm's signature piece that people still buy, but primarily the 30+ market. Walk through west village or chelsea & meet the type of people that thrive off of Margiela.


& no I'm not a trust fund kid. I'm not 16 like people here either & I do have stable income. After scholarships I spend only $4k to attend Uconn & pay for my own apartment in manhattan. No funding from my parents & anyone who knows me knows that.

either your an idiot for wasting entire pay checks on a single item of clothing,you are lying about owning the clothing or your parents are paying for it because after your uni costs, rent and basic living costs like food there is no way there is enough left in your budget to properly afford those clothes

also buying clothes simply because of there brand shows you have no actual sense of style and just presume more expensive means it will look better

Its far better to show up to class looking nice, than like a slob. Personally, sandals are a no, sweatpants are a no, and pajama pants a definite no.

I either go with some khaki shorts, and a nice button up, or my gym shoes, and a tshirt with khakis shorts.

Dont overdo it though, and dress like your going to formal, or look like your sponsored by Ralph Lauren haha.
