Touring

I want to start touring this year.what can you tell me about it? I already have a shovel, probe, beacon. what else should i have Besides the obvious skins and A/T bindings, do i need touring boots? or will my ace of spades be alright. i will also be on volkl chopsticks do they make skins that wide?

Where have you decided to go out touring? It's better to have a skiing equipment too, whenever you feel like smashing on powder! It's a perfect all in one experience! : )

You will be fine with that, if you like it a ton you can always upgrade, you can do some fairly big days on heavy gear and you will just be stronger for when you decide to finally get the fancy stuff.

Make sure to get out with some experienced people and read your local avalanche bulletin.

O and yes they do make skins that big.

your ace of spades will do just fine. i wouldnt buy any tour specific shit until you know for sure you like doing it, dynafits etc. lots of people love the idea of being out in the mountains, skiing untouched snow but forget that it takes 3 hours to get up to do 1 run.
g3 makes 140mm wide skins, dunno how wide chopsticks are.
also make sure you got a friend with you who you trust/trusts you and you both know what you're doing.

start by skinning up your home mountain. it gets you in good shape, teaches you how to handle your skis/skins while touring, and gets you in good shape to handle backcountry terrain (which is very different to skin than resort).
