Replying to Surface Walk Free vs Liberty Helix
Hey all
I'm trying to decide which ski to buy for the upcoming season
I'm an upper-intermediate/lower-advanced skier, skiing mostly off piste, and hoping to do a fair bit of back country this season, skiing the Pacific Northwest (Vancouver)
I am kind of on a budget, so I've narrowed down my choice to the Live Free and the Helix, both the 2013 for their light weight and all around versatility (supposedly).
I like a fun, playful ski. I was on line SFB's last winter and loved the ski, but I did find it a bit to jittery when conditions weren't as ideal. Still, I don't want anything too stiff.
The live free is about 150 bucks cheaper and 5 mm wider at the waist, which is appealing to me, but the Helix seems to have better reviews overall. Really, I would just buy the live frees but you just don't hear as much about them online which makes me unsure about their performance.
If anyone has experience with either or both skis, I'd love to hear some feedback. I'm 6' and 140lbs, looking at the 181cm and 182cm. I'd be mounting them with Marker tours or Fritschis, most likely.
