So me and my friends are looking to make a trip out west for our senior year and are looking where to go. Those three are the ones we kinda narrowed it down to. We want to stay inside the US so now Whistler but if you have any other suggestions, that'd be great to hear.
We are looking for the best skiing experience we can get inside the US. Powder, above treeline skiing, park wouldn't hurt but isn't essential, and we don't care if there's a town nearby or not. We'd be going hopefully in March because of when we have off of school.
SPARK NOTES: skiing trip out west, explain where you think we should go to find best skiing inside US.
It's big mountain heaven and the town is pretty sweet. Everyone should go once. I know I'm being very vague.. its just badass. For more information just checkout their website. Hopefully someone with more energy can second this recommendation.
This is true. All of the cliffs have flat landings and the snow is shitty. Don't believe what you see in the TGR flicks, they're paid by the resort to make it look like they have deep snow and good terrain.
Ive skied all over the world and all the major places in the us. Utah colorado hood even whistler. Everywhere in the east and jackson hole. And jackson hole was the best day of skiing of my life. Steep and deep.
you could easily just take a trip to MT and hit big sky, moonlight, bridger bowl, Whitefish, and numerous ma and pa shop hills that will give you good snow and friendly people. just got to have the funds and time
Ya I know haha. Sarcasm is hard to accomplish over the Internet. And to the person who said about Colorado, didn't want to go there because of the price.
I would really like some info on the places I named, or places that could compare to the (vertical drop and # of slopes wise). Just trying to get some info from ns that actually ski at those places.
I used to go to jackson every year as a family trip and I got to say, best skiing I've ever experienced. Even during a bad snow year or week there is so much great terrain in and out of bounds it's unlike anything else I've skied. That said I'm in Telluride right now and as a town it blows jackson out of the water when it comes to scenery that sort of things. Somehow I've never skied here though so I can't comment on that.
Jackson Hole shits on these other places in terms of pow pow. If you really really want some good untouched pow too, hit up Grand Targhee while you're in Jhole!
Jackson Hole is hands down the best in bounds and slackcountry in the lower 48. I've skied better pow at Bridger Bowl but as far as terrain goes Jackson is untouched. The only place that's better than Jackson is Revelstoke.
Dont forget about gaper central: Lake Tahoe. They are due for a huge winter, they have been getting screwed. There is potential for beastly spring storm cycles and if they dont get snow it will most likely be sunny and corny. Save the Utah trip for when you can shred Alta. Big sky is lame. If money is no object do jackson.
