How's the snow up there? Better snow than the lower rockies? Wanted some thoughts and expectations since im going up to
Bozeman, Montana to visit a friend from late december to early january. BTW Bridger bowl is where I will be mostly skiing. Thanks for replies!
snow is light and often deep, skiing at bridger bowl is tight, steep, and awesome. it has pretty much everything you could want at a mountain in terms of natural terrain. bozeman is a great town.
Big Sky is awesome and Bridger is fun! just make sure you have avalanche gear. there are some runs at big sky you need avy gear for. and some chairlifts you need a Beacon to get on. snow is great in Montana, and Bozeman is a fun town
both lol. just depends where you wanna go. lots of locals in big sky... and lots at Bridger.. just depends what you feel like i guess... big sky is bigger... and has the tram which is awesome... i prefer big sky.. but its bias because i grew up skiing it :D hope that helps... if you go to big sky GO TO BLUE MOON BAKER locals favourite for Pizza and breakfast bagels... and great sandwiches
when youre there an if you have any questions just ask! lived there for a while so i know some fun bars and places to eat.. and you defiantly need to ski the Snow Field and The big when there is snow... theyre amazing
The snow can be kind of hit or miss that time of year, but there's usually something good to ski then. I'd say Bridger is more of the "local's mountain," although you really need to bring avy gear and be prepared to hike a bit to get the most out of it. Big Sky is also great, so instead of giving you the pros and cons of each, I suggest you just go ski both a few times, since you'll be here long enough to not have to decide.
Also, make sure to get to some of the breweries if you're not a young'n. Madison River and Bozone are my favorites, although Outlaw is surprisingly good for how new it is.
