My input is that it should not just be a recap of what is or has been on the Home Page. I know that there will be some overlap, but I am hoping it will draw people into discussions in parts of the site where they may not always venture.

^Don't worry about triple posting. That was all good shit. I like pretty much all of the suggestions in here.

My problem is, I haven't gotten on to the email I registered with in like 2-3 years and I have absolutely no idea what the password is. There needs to be a way to switch it, because NS emails are interesting and I want to read them.

damnit can this just be rybaks personal idea thread because i keep thinking of stuff.

- Promote the nstv program and the photography program in the newsletter. Maybe by showing the top rated video/photo in the program or by showing new additions to it or even how to be apart of it.

heres a few ideas
-incorporate gear reviews/gear talk into it somehow. maybe gear spotlights
-get a little like "trick of the week" thing going where each week is a new tutorial.
-feature some threads, like "the 5 questions with", or contests or "official event" threads

-a mail in section, i love to read those in the magazines.
-forum fail of the week/ month/ whatever
-maybe to make some money you could put in peoples sales/ whatever they have for sale but make them pay 5 bucks for an article or link.

80/90k people? How are you distributing it? and how the hell do you figure that? I would have thought either way lower or ~200k.

Controversial threads perhaps, hot topics, big upcoming news, past news(I know you're big on selling the news section so this could be a way to do it)



Having all ns POTD and VOTD's even in itself will get quite busy, I'd figure out a way to cut this down, POTW AND VOTW maybe? and whatever you do don't use the POTW and VOTW that newschoolers currently chooses, that certainly needs to be repaired.

A lot of the stuff that gets posted on the social network feeds could apply here.

Potentially updates to the site, I know a lot of people miss them, as they never really get announced, but I suppose on the other hand to a lot of people it's not exactly exciting.


roddys idea of having a mail in section is nice, I'd like to see that, but his other idea, and somebody else mentioned it, of having for sale ads, is just moronic IMO.

You can basically use it to bring attention to sections of ns that you want reborn.

I'd really love to include a full schedule of what will be releasing that week. Like, if Hood Crew is going on Monday, Westward on Wednesday, B&E on Thursday, etc.

I like the idea of doing a new trick tutorial every week... although I'll need to wait until the winter to get that started! Do we do guest athletes / filmers? Feature members? Or do I just link up with some riders do them.

It's a newsletter -- and we have 90k subscribers. There's always a good chunk that bounce / go to emails no longer checked.

I think I'm going to stick with both the POTD's and the VOTD's -- it gives people more incentive to get a x of the day. The layout will change over the next month, ideally to something that has really clean thumbnails / lists.

Site updates will always be included if they're significant. The smaller changes aren't worthy of a mention though (there's at least 5 a week).

Please do this, I've been skiing for years, but have only freeskied for one and a half seasons and I don't know many tricks. It would be awesome idea for beginners. Also, how do I sign up for this newsletter?

Oh, and BOTH guest athletes AND featured members. I think it's cool that so many amateurs on this site shred hard, and I would love seeing people who are "NS famous" throw down in some trick tip videos, that'd be pretty cool.

I think that you should definately put in the POTD and VOTD, but photos are a lot easier to look at than videos, so you should make them easier to access, while keeping the videos out of the way to reduce visual clutter.

Also, I think it would be good to have a b/s/t section, however not like ads so you go to a seperate page and they are all grouped there so you can compare offers etc.

yeah that's what i was thinking. Because really, how many people actually check their emails? It could sort of be like a reward for people who actually look at it. Like a discount code.

I like the idea of a program for nstv for the week. Maybe this Monday, this comes out Thursday at six. Also perhaps relevant gear reviews. I feel that most gear reviews aren't done by park skiers, but more by people who ski groomers.
