Low Light Oakley Lens

Looking to get a low light lens for my crowbars, but I can't find any pictures of what they look like outside of the stock photos. Does anyone have the ruby clear/any other suggestions? And if you want to sell them to me that'd be pretty cool

Get the HI yellows. I own the fire iridium and those and they pretty much cover it all. The yellow makes a 100% difference

Hi yellow as said above, just for closed in and white outs. Otherwise they tend to hurt your eyes if your light sensitive during bluebird.

Yeah hi yellow are great on supper cloudy days. Add to that something like a black irid or pink irid as a general lens and a dark grey or fire irid if you need a very dark lens and you will be set for nearly all conditions.

I already have the fire iridium so im looking for one thats more low/mid I guess. So it sounds like the hi yellows might not be the best. Would the ruby clear fit the bill?

I'm all for the Ruby Clear although it is discontinued now :(. It was a special lens from the Japan market that will not be sold anymore in the US.

If you want something a bit more versatile than the HI Yellow I would go for the HI Persimmon, although it might be a bit dark for whiteout days.

If you can snag one of the older Pink Iridium lenses (not the VR50) or a Ruby Clear than I would hop on that ASAP. Let me know if you want a picture of a few lenses side by side and I'll get that done today

i really liked the ruby for night skiing and days with overcasts. they have a blue-ish tint when you look through them and look a lot like the fire iridum from the outside (but you can faintly make out someones eyes). Id sell mine to you but i cracked the inner lens.

backcountry.com used to have it, not sure if they still do

How does the pink iridium compare to the ruby clear?

It's a bit darker than the Ruby Clear I believe, but not by much, and is still amazing for enhancing contrast in low light. I wish I could remember the VLT percentage for the Ruby Clear, but I'm guessing it's got to be pretty close to the original Pink Iridium, which was 57%. Maybe a hair over 60%

Here's a picture I took a while back comparing the original Pink Iridium (left) to the new VR50 Pink Iridium (right). This is about the darkest they will be from the outside

Oh, and Oakley still has the remaining stock of their Ruby Clear lenses for the Crowbar for sale on their website, they just stopped producing them for the US and selling them to distributors.

Thanks. So the ruby clear looks sort of like the older pink iridium? And is the vr50 just a little darker?

Yeah, the VR50 Pink has a 41% VLT, and has the vr50 base tint that's a pretty dark rose as opposed to a really light pink base tint on the older Pink Iridium. I believe the Ruby Clear has a light blue base tint but I'm not positive. Wish I had one left to take a picture of for you. A quick goggle search shows some accurate representations of the Ruby Clear:

get the ruby. ive heard of a lot of people not liking the pink ones..some have said they get a headache from them

just get clear. If your hill is lit and always cloudy you'd be fine. don't worry about not looking hyphy without colored lenses. persimmon works nice too, it's the only lens i have and i've never been blind in colorado and can still see at night in NJ.

Pretty much comes down to personal preference at this point. I use dark lenses for night skiing but I have very sensitive eyes and wouldn't suggest it to everyone else. I prefer the Ruby Clear over the old Pink Iridium so that would be my choice.

I use the hi yellows for night skiing all the time. They work great but the hi permissions might be better suited for you.
