alta has more kickers that people build that just stay there all season, which is awesome. not as much of that at the bird. the mine jump at the end of the year is the tits
they also get tracked out differently because of alta's lack of snowboarders. snowboarders make slashy, surfy turns in pow where skiers are more rhythmic and bouncy. the bird might get tracked out very slightly faster, but it has more steeps that are gnar just to get down (not that alta lacks those, they just don't have as much). also, in my experience, its easier to find obvious cliffs and lips with open landings at alta, the bird requires more exploring/creativity/willingness to stomp into trees and or moguls. again though snowbird still has a lot of that just not as much. both are awesome and they are really similar, but personal preference i like alta slightly more. the first 3 hours of a pow day the wildcat chair is practically a terrain park with pow landings.
they are both dope.. deciding factor being snowbird has a longer season...definitely some of my most memorable days have been spent lapping wildcat though

I've had a pass to the Bird for the past 5 years or so. Such a fun mountain. It does get tracked out faster, but some of my favorite pow days have been there. Awesome mountain with tons of terrain. Alta is also a blast. Haven't ridden there very much, but the times I did go were awesome. All my friends got passes to Alta this past season, and they loved it. Honestly, I'd shell out the few extra to get an Alta/Bird. But if you only get one, go the Bird.
they both have a unique fun to them. I ride Alta but I love the Bird. Mineral Basin on a pow day and riding the tram is a unique fun experience. Utah is where it's at
