Okay so this is possibly the best video Ive ever seen on the internet. I know its kinda long but it'll really change the way you see everyday life, so its definitely worth a watch.
I had to read this last year for my freshman comp class it was the first semester too and I'm glad. After reading this I lived my life differently. and now I find it here, thanks man.
Millions of people are dying from disease and starvation around the world yet we have the nerve to bitch about our repetitive daily routines, the unbearable task of being stuck in a traffic jam or having to wait in line to pay for your groceries.
If you have a roof over your head and plenty of food to eat, you really don't know how lucky you are.
Idk, i always think whenever i see one of these "inspirational" videos that i wonder why most people don't think these ways already. Its pretty much common sense with a tiny bit of intelligence.
saw it like 6 months ago, idk it was like up and down for me. stood out but not enough to be like "woah that shit was deep and i wanna change my life." it made me look at life a little different but it was still cool.
I think everyone has their own way of making their day to day lives more positive. Its more down to the people that can be bothered to write a speech or make a video about it.
I would have to disagree with you on that one. Why would someone make a video like this if it were not to inspire people. Everything is inspiring in some way, from a pencil to winning gold at the olympics.
The speaking part (which I hope we can agree is the real "meat" of the "inspirational" part), is a shortened version of a commencement address given by David Foster Wallace at Kenyon. The video was made separately. If you read anything by Wallace you'll know the last thing he tries to be is inspirational.
I kind of think this way but after you live in a small town and know most of the peoples stories you kind of get pissed again because you know they are falsely claiming disability, falsely claiming food stamps, and using government money to buy ciggy butts and booze with you tax money that you work hard for and that's them imo being straight up disrespectful to everyone that actually works.
