It was a light hearted joke, mostly due to the 100s of fs700 slowmo test videos on the internet. I've shot with an fs700 and shooting mega mo is quite fun, you can do some cool stuff. Mat Rich did the same thing, fs700 test video -> all 240fps. DVXuser got absolutely slaughtered by fs700 test videos when it first came out, its just a sign of why people buy cameras IMO. Sure, if I owned an fs700 i'd be tempted to shoot 120 and 240 a bunch, but its just like when everyone bought 7d's and made videos with really shallow DOF. Wasn't exactly suppose to be a personal attack, more of a half joke/half frustration that every fs700 video has something to do with slowmo.
ahhh i see! I kinda have noticed that. But i have not searched around to much for fs700 videos. I personally had never dealt with highframe rates before and honestly i think most people have not when they get this cam. I think thats why. its the biggest new thing to play with on the camera. I am most stoked though to send it in for the upgrade. I am verry excited to get slog and new iso sensitivity. Lowlight shooting will be awsome! Also if i ever find the need i would love to try out the 4k.
Most definitely, I shot some super tight urban shots with an fs700 and it was super fun. Best part about super slow motion is you ramp it up to almost full motion without noticing. A lot of my WCS video this summer was 240fps sped up and it works decently, just every clip is 1gb haha
Nice! The 4k image out of the cam is amazing. I saw a sample the other day and was blown away.
How would you say the cam performes in the cold and moisture? Have you had any problems with your fs 100 or the 700s you have used with col and what not?
Nah, I've used the 100 in sub zero conditions, snow, rain. Granted, i did the plastic bag cover in rain and nuking snow, but it works just fine. Battery may run quicker in cold but thats normal with any camera, the fs100 lasts forever on the big battery, if you're doing alot of 120/240 the batt goes much quicker on the 700.
just out of curiosity don't you do a lot of work outside skiing? How do you even get any gigs like that? I really want to branch out but I have no idea where to go? haha
Freakin legit dude. What lens did you use for those shots, and what lenses do you plan on using? I like the fact that it was shallow DOF but not overdone. Slow mo never gets old haha.
For these shots i used a voigtlander 35mm 1.2. I have been real happy with voigtlanders stuff verry well made and great IQ. As for future lenses i have a nikon 80-200 2.8 in the mail along with a rokinon 8mm 2.8 fisheye. I also have a vintage Lomo 28mm that i like to use. I also would love to invest in the voigtlander 50mm 1.1 and a wide angle of some sort. Maybe the tokina 11-16 or canon 16-35.
I just came. Mind donating to the Wyatt wants super cool lenses foundation? No but seriously I love Voigtlander's stuff. I wish I could afford it hahaha
Sorry for dub post but more I was just thinking about the 50mm 1.1... I don't know personally, but it seems to me that the IQ of it is pretty poor compared to the rest of Voigtlander's stuff? I mean I know it isn't the same, but I feel like a Zeiss 50mm f/2 would provide so much better IQ than that of the 1.1. Unless you absolutely needed that 1.1 aperture. I guess just from the tests I've seen, the lens seems a little soft at all apertures, especially at 1.1 obviously, and I wasn't thrilled by the bokeh. But if you could maybe give me some insight to your reasoning/ or show me some super sick stuff put out by the lens, I have an open mind! Like I said I'm not super familiar with the lens to totally bash it, just with what I've seen (not a ton) it wouldn't be the first thing I'd buy in that range
