Wider Binding on a narrower ski

Hey guys,
So at the end of last season I broke a pair of bindings taking a spill off a rail. The next day I picked up a pair of griffons. I realized 6 months later, that I did not specify the brake size I needed. I ski an 85 waist ski and i measured the brakes last night and they came to 11cm or 110mm. I have always seen on online stores that it recommends a bindings no wider than 15mm of the waist. My binding is 25mm wider than the waist. Will this give me any problems in the long run?

Its generally recommended that you don't go with a brake more than 15mm wider than the underfoot width of the ski. But you might be able to get away with it, my dad skis 120mm brakes on a 96mm, so it's a similar difference to what you would have going on. Although if you skiing hard, landing switch a lot, and you have a history of breaking brakes, I would try and bend you brakes to be narrower, you may find it harder than bending the other way, but it is possible.

I am surprised that you can't get narrower brakes, usually people have trouble finding brakes for pow skis, not park skis.

You can just get replacement brakes. Those brakes will be way to big and really annoying to ski with. They will constantly catch on each other and may even hit the snow when you carve. Overall you are a lot more likly to break them. Order some 90mm brakes instead. Or if the big brakes are new are if any of your local shops will swap them for you.

Just go to your local shop, they might even be prepared to swap you brakes for a narrower pair.
