You know, I would really a heavily moderated politics thread. I think I've said this before, but minus asses like you that kinda ruin it, NS is actually great for debating politics. There's not actually many places on the internet where there are people with VERY differing opinions. Everywhere just kinda circlejerks around either the left or the right, and there's no discourse whatsoever. If there was a place here on NS where there could be political discourse with some heavy modding to take out the POLITICS ARE STUPID AND YOU ARE STUPID AND BARACK HITLER OBAMA IS THE WORST THING IN THE HISTORY OF EVERYTHING" type posts then there could be real debate, which is hard to find anywhere.

Should have said NS would be a great place for politics. Where else on the internet do you get people coming in from both sides of the spectrum? I mean, look at reddit. Try to have one republican ideal on there and they downvote your shit to all hell. NS is a place with vastly different demographics from all over the country, and there all here not to debate politics. What this means is you wont have an eventual takeover of the sites politics by one group, because people aren't here for the politics, there here for the skiing. It obviously wouldnt replace SG or NSG, but if there was a place here to have reasoned debate from both sides, that would be fucking awesome.

The amount of uneducated opinions is just too much of a shit show. People spew so much bullshit about politics on ns and 90% of the time they have no idea what they are talking about. Not to mention the majority of the people who argue just repeat what they read on their favorite web news source.

Which honestly is ok. If somebody "spews bullshit" then fucking call them on it. If they have shitty sources, bring in better ones. We are all part of the problem. The difference between having a politics section and it just being in NSG is that it can be more heavily moderated to get rid of people that are not adding anything to the discussion. Politics will always happen on a site that has a forum dedicated to literally anything. It's a big part of our lives, and will be discussed. Why not make a place where its not shitty?
