I'm not exactly sure this is true. Like, scientifically I don't see why that would be the case. I feel like its just because most people don't inhale correctly their first time. I could be wrong though.

every single person i've been with the first time they've smoked, they haven't been high. most people, for whatever reason, don't get high their first time

My theory is that you don't really know what's different, but the second time you get high, you recognize the feeling and that's when you realize you were and are high.

Well I always figured it was just because that story comes from a time when most people smoked dirt schwag their first time out of a bent up fkn beer can or some shit, so they are only getting tiny hits part way into their soft, virgin lungs.

Nowadays you could be hitting a G pen your first time, the shit is just so easy to get now it's a whole other ballgame at this point.

im sure everyones different but the first time my friend did it he said he got wicked high after 1 hit but i know kids who've tried a bunch and never feel a thing

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is present in all animals.  This system influences a good number of out physiological behaviors such as energy intake(hunger), metabolism, mood, and transport of nutrients. Endocannabinoids are our bodies own form of marijuana and is involved in most of our bodies cells and structures and help control a number of  functions through out our bodies different systems(nervous, limbic, immune, ect.).  In our nervous system we have neurotransmitters (dopamine,saratonin) that help send electrical signals though the body. At some point in time(think invertebrates) the nervous system acquired a new type of chemical (cannabinoids), these new chemicals have a very similar structure/shape to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).  The receptors are not in our bodies because there is a plant that produces a chemical that makes them react, but because our bodies produce an chemical that activates those receptors.  It is just coincidence that there is a plant chemical(THC) that acts on the receptors too. THC binds to the endocannabinoid receptors in the brain and body, it is this interaction that creates that feeling of being "high".

Smoking for the first time is different for everyone. Some experience the feeling of being high and some dont. It is not because they are inhaling wrong or not smoking enough necessarily.  It is because everybody is different, especially when broken down to the chemical level.  The different chemicals binding to different receptors in your body, and your body figuring out how to react to these new chemicals as opposed to the ones our bodies naturally produce. Just because you dont feel high your first time smoking doesnt mean that your body isnt reacting to the THC. Of course smoking a lot in a short period of time will get you high you are just overloading your senses, but that is not the only way people get high their first time smoking.

thanks for the wall of text from wikipedia that i didn't read pal, apparently you, along with most others that replied to my comment, didn't catch the sarcasm in saying "everyone doesn't get high their first time." of course some people get high their first time, and there would be no way of logically saying that "everyone" doesn't get high their first time.

Also both of your assumptions that i copy and pasted from wiki, or i was trying to look smart by posting that are incorrect. I wrote that out for you, or anyone else, who might be interested in why you might not feel high your first time smoking. The fact that you did not read it or care to enlighten yourself on the subject tells me you are perfectly content wallowing around in your own little conceited world.  I do not claim to think that i know everything, but i certainly try to educate myself, especially on matters that interest me such as this. That way i dont end up sounding like a uneducated little bitch who has to spend more time defending their fallacy than if they had just kept their mouth shut to begin with. Im sorry i didnt realize that claiming how many joints or spliffs of whatever dispensary strain is currently popular makes you any kind of expert on smoking cannabis or it affects on the human body, you just look ironically hypocritical.

the reason why most people don't get high the first time is because they a) don't know what it feels like or b) don't inhale because it's on a pipe or something.

I will repeat myself since anything over a sentence seems to make you illiterate, i wrote that for you and anyone else who might be interested. If you really think that a paragraph explanation is a novel then i will gladly buy you a set of those little wooden blocks with the alphabet on them to play with, as that seems to be the extent of your reading comprehension.  If you knew anything about marijuana i wouldnt sound so high and mighty to you, nor would you think that making fun of the word cannabis would be any kind of insult.  I have not once claimed to know everything about marijuana, mostly because i am aware of how little i really know. where as you seem to just blindly babble. Forgive me for taking some time to educate myself on something im interested in, yes cannabis is one of them, but far from my only interest (i say cannabis because i meant more than just the kind that gets you high). You are welcome to call me professor if you like but that is not a title i've given myself and i wouldnt even say it is appropriate. You suck at making assumptions and have yet to get one right.

I am one of the least literal people if you knew me.  you would also know i like to push stupid peoples buttons even more and you have been a great source of entertainment, though your ignorance is almost painful. with your logic, we should get rid of NSG since this is a skiing website! its summer time, there is no snow, what do you really expect?

my friend tried a spliff(made by me) his first time, he was like meh and i was stoned.

second time he tried, same amout in the spliff, after a couple of minutes he went holy fuck im stoned.


that's my own experience of what i base it on, my other friends have had the same "issue" with some of their first timers.

Not true. The first time I smoked I took three fat rips of some dank strawberry cush from and ice bong and it was amazing. I got really high. Most people though are scared the first time and take pussy hits and don't inhale right hence they don't get high.
