Returning after an off season

So I tore my ACL this last season on the 2nd day of the season and that had me decommissioned for the entire season.. I just got the green light from my orthopedic surgeon to resume any physical activities. Obviously I'm going to take it easy the first few days back on the mountain, but how could someone get back into the right mindset again? I'm 100% sure I want to ski again, but I'm still not 100% confident with my knee yet, and I know if I went out with that attitude nothing good could happen. And I know that its still a while away until season but what are some ways that you would get yourself back in the game?

I'd say slackline, trampoline and workout your legs.

You should definitely work into running a little bit to get some leg muscle, and maybe skate or longboard a little bit.

Yeah I've been doing this since I was allowed again. I'm not so much as worried about the physical aspect of it more as the mental aspect of it. My Doctor, who I actually really trust says I'm ready, but it's hard for me to grasp that. yknow?

I had sort of a similar situation this past season because I broke my tibia the year before and missed the second half of the season and then my doctor fucked up and told me I was ready to go back on to normal physical activity too early and it broke again. So when ski season came around I was a little worried even though it was supposed to be 100% by then. I guess when the time came I was just so happy to be back I actually did tricks I had never gotten before on the first day. I was worried until I got to the top of the park, then it all went away and I didn't even take a warmup run, I just went into my normal tricks on my first hits of the year. I think that if you are really back to normal physically then it shouldn't be too bad getting over the mental aspect of it. After waiting to go skiing for so long I think you'll be so happy to be back that you won't worry as much as you might think now.

Ive done my acl twice and my mcl once, Still haven't got my confidence back after 3 years. But after my first acl the next season I was over confident and re tore it. Its all about trying to find that happy medium, for me its been one step forward two steps back. But I'm slowly regaining it. I also recommend a very nice fitted knee brace (can be expensive) and PT like a boss.

Good luck man. I fucked my back up a few seasons ago and haven't been the same since. I didn't get to go once last season between work and various other things but this season i want to get back to the mountain a lot. Hoping my back holds and i can get in the park again or at least get a ton of days in just ripping around. Knees and backs are a bitch.

Insurance covered a custom brace so I have a very nice fitted brace that I will definitely be using on the slopes.
