Damaged cartillage in ankles

So I went to the foot doctor yesterday and he's pretty convinced I have some damaged cartillage in my ankle. I know torn cartillage is a problem and does require surgery, especially in knees, but what about feet/ankles? I get an MRI this week to just furthermore confirm it with the doc. Any one on NS share a similar experience?

I was going to say I know knees require surgery, not sure about ankles.

meniscus tears are not always treated surgically. They can be treated conservatively with rehab as well. Damage to ankle cartilage is a bit more rare. Usually it involves a defect on the talar dome, which can be treated without surgery as well. However, some times you can break a little piece off the back of your talus, called an Os Trigonum, which I believe has to be surgically fixed. Good luck with it bro, hope you get all the help you need
