THE CANYONS/PARK CITY IS BURNING DOWN!!!

An isolated lightning storm moved through the Snyderville/Canyons area and created a firestorm of epic proportions. In the Promontory area, a wildfire was sparked by a stray lightning bolt around the time of 11 F.M..

That wildfire became noticeable to those peoples that were contained around the The Canyons Resort resort area.

The fire grew exponentially within the matter that makes up minutes and has now overtaken a few human structures and has spread to many acres outside of the original burn area that existed within the matter that makes up a few minutes ago.

This is an official news report by: fuck you Talisker, I hope The Canyons Resort burns... given that no one is actually hurt but your mafia organization.

Burning west into Promontory right now. Took out a few homes in Rockport. I was just over there, could still see many structures on fire.

...to bad it didn't burn the Canyons down

Asides from damages to infrastructure, and personal damages/loses to a ski resort. Every skier should be celebrating when they hear about there mountain lighting up. Opens up terrain like no other.

Normally I can ignore your posts, but: have you skied a forest before and after it burnt? Sure, you CAN ski really tight trees, but there is no flow and the enjoyment factor isn't what it could be. Spend enough time skiing well spaced trees and nothing can be as good. It's not about if you can, but if you want to - If you know what I mean

Fire started back up about 1:00 today. Got big again. Was pretty damn close to Promontory, maybe even in there. Still going as I type.

I live in town. Seemed like things were somewhat contained this morning when I looked out, then by this afternoon I could see the plumes of smoke again.

I know this post is a troll but for those actually interested it still has a ways to go before it would reach the Kimball Junction area, much less Snyderville/Canyons. Now last year when that fire by the Jordanelle started and threatened to jump the road and go up into Deer Crest/Deer Valley... that was a little scary.

No I really don't. I've only skied there like twice before. Fuck Talisker. I'll ride their mtb trails for free a few times a year, however.

The land? I know talisker owns all the condos and shit still but vail runs the resort.

The land and the resort itself. Basically every bit of land you see on the mountains at The Canyons or Deer Valley is because of Talisker. Skilink is only the beginning... they will not stop... old people never stop.

The fire isn't even close to any ski resorts. Its in Promontory... It would need to hop some serious roads to make it all the way over.

I think the whole "If you can't hack it, don't hack it" thing is a major fallacy. I've got no issues (And anyone that's skied with me can attest to this) clearing out branches, or brush to open up glades better. Who ever likes getting a branch to the face, or tearing your coat from a hang up? Nobody. National forest or not if every skier broke a couple branches a run down there favourite line until it has flow the world would be a better place. Having the flow interrupted while your charging trees isn't my idea of an epic run on a good day.
