The Hood Crew Q&A

Who is the Hood Crew? That’s not an easy question to answer. The crew has morphed significantly over more than a decade of existence; even Danny Schwartz, the crew’s current instigator-in-chief, can’t tell me much about the history of the crew, besides that he was first given the password for the Hood Crew Newschoolers account in 2002.

Since then the crew has grown to include many of the Northwest’s best up-and-coming skiers, as well as some Midwest transplants. One aspect I’ve always liked about Hood Crew is their openness, which always brings new talent into their edits. At the end of the day, Hood Crew is whoever is still there hiking for the shot.

Why is finding someone capable of producing quality video not something you guys think about? Not trying to talk shit but with the amount of talent you guys have on the skiing side I think that a well made video on a good camera could really bring things to a higher level for you dudes

The marshmallow is a play off of the Snowboard only camp named High Cascade Snowboard Camp.  Their slogan is 100% snowboarding and they don't let skier into their camp on hood.  They are not very appreciated by locals as they consume the entire local village of Government Camp every summer along with the ski racers.  So the marshmallow is a mini protest to the camp and the summer camp mentality in a way.  Here is a picture of the original marshmallow AND SOME OTHER GAY STUFF!

While I do enjoy the short spontaneous segments that you put out, do you guys plan to ever make anything from them? Like say a consistent show that is on NSTV perhaps? Or are you guys going to stick to primarily working on full length films like Freed the Streets?

How much money do each of your parents give you?

-Because you guys don't make shit from skiing, and from what I can see have no real source of income other than gang. Whose paying for all of hotshot joey's trips oversea's and his bedroom at ski hill that he didn't live in all year, and just payed rent?. What about the rest of the hood?

quick heads up, some of the homies are in college and get some scrilla from their parents but for the most part everyone busts ass to make ends meet. 3 hoodcrew kids were working 50 hour weeks all summer at hood driving snowcats so they could shred all summer, me included. Now I am working 110 hour weeks all fall in california for the wine harvest to make ends meet for the winter, when I will also be serving tables at deer valley 3 or 4 nights a week, nearly the whole crew really busts ass to make the dream happen, skiing 200 plus days a year aint cheap and I know for a fact a lot of the homies work harder than you could ever conceive to make the skilife happen, a lot harder than you skilife123...right? -Meeks

Do you have to collectively go over every decision democratic-style because you're all to fucked up to have the ability to do that independently?

And if most likely so, are you proud that your decisions resemble that of my Alzheimer's plagued grandmother?

I'm referring to "skiing should only be fun" mentality you seem to promote and yet you take skiing seriously at times.

Maybe it's maturity and not Alzheimer's because you realize you may actually have a shot at being legit?

he's actually in napa working on vineyards from sun up to sun down...I don't understand why everyone here on newschoolers thinks it's absurd when people actually hold down jobs...it's called busting your ass in the off season to ski and film all winter...
